"Dean, I'm telling you we're lost," Sam Winchester argued with his brother. "The turn we were supposed to take was 50 miles back there."
"Shut up Sammy. I know I've been gone for a year, but that doesn't mean I don't know where I'm headed," Dean Winchester defended himself. On the inside he knew that his brother was right. He had driven for about an hour passing nothing but trees in the pouring rain. "How ya doin' back there Cas?"
The angel sitting in the back seat perked up his head. "Fine, Dean. Just thinking."
"Well maybe you should get your mind off things and listen to some music. My iPod's sitting right there if you wanna listen." Dean said grabbing the iPod, handing it to Castiel, keeping one hand on the steering wheel.
"I-Pod?" Castiel questioned the oddly named device.
"Yes, an iPod," Sam informed Cas, "It's a little device where you can listen to songs, watch movies, surf the web, play games, the list goes on."
Castiel grabbed the device and turned it on after Sam had told him how to do so. Quickly Cas got the hang of it and started to go through Dean's song selection. As he expected, Dean had quite a collection of classic rock albums. One album caught his eye. It was an album that read "The Eye of the Tiger". Castiel recalled overhearing Dean singing something about "tiger eyes" in the shower at the last motel so he touched the album cover and began to listen to it.
A long silence had filled the car. Sam was starting to lose his patience with his older brother. He hated it when Dean was like this. Whenever it came to directions, "Dean was always right". Although Sam had gotten used to it, it still irritated him.
"I don't understand." Castiel broke the silence.
"Don't understand what?" Dean asked.
"This song. 'The Eye of the Tiger'. How can the Eye of the Tiger be the thrill of the fight? Isn't the fighting itself thrilling?"
"Well you seeā¦" Sam started going on about what the song symbolized but his brother interrupted.
"It's a song Cas. Just listen to it and I hope that you can come to enjoy it." Dean glared at his brother, "And to enjoy it, you don't need to know what every single friggn' line symbolizes."
"What is this?" Castiel asked, completely ignoring Dean and Sam's little argument. "I think this says 'Ke-dollars-ha' right here."
"What?!" Dean blushed. "I don't know what you're talking about. Sam did you give Cas your iPod by accident?!"
"Nope. Mine's in my pocket right here." Sam grinned pulling out his iPod.
Dean thought for a minute before saying, "I think that we're done listening to music here." Dean, with one hand on the wheel, reached back to where Cas was sitting and put his hand out motioning for Castiel to give him his iPod back.
"No, Dean. I am very amused by these poetic lyrics."
Sam gave out a little laugh, "Poetic lyrics?" He loved the embarrassment that his older brother was getting. "Like what?"
"The line, 'Your love is my drug' says so much about human love. Some humans need drugs to make them happy and others use love instead." Castiel stared out the window as he continued to listen to the song. Dean just sat in the driver's seat pouting, focused on the road ahead.
"So how long have you been listening to Ke$ha?" Sam couldn't help himself but to giggle. His brother, the tough guy, secretly listened to Ke$ha! Dean will never hear the end of this, Sam thought.
"Shut your cakehole Sammy." Dean continued to stare at the road. This is going to be the longest drive ever, Dean complained to himself in his thoughts as the Impala continued down the road.
