Kurenai's black hair covered her face, a face with pure sorrow upon her pale skin, a face that only someone as cruel as the devil could ever laugh at.
Her mascara ran from her eyes and down her cheeks - the rain making it seem like an illusion...about the tears she kept shedding for her lost love.
An illusion...that's all this is...it's only a nightmare that I can't wake up from...
Kurenai was always wishing this was just a nightmare. It could never be described as a dream. She'd never want to dream about this - ever.
In her arms was a bouquet of beautiful red roses - one being fake. It was held right next to her stomach which was bearing the new Sarutobi that would be in her life.
Kurenai's whole body trembled from the sadness. The fear. The emotional pain of losing her husband...
She is losing her will as a kunoichi now. Bearing a child...bearing the burden of being a widow...and bearing the pain of losing someone she had always loved. Someone she knew since childhood.
Someone she affection for...
"Asuma...I know you'll never be back...but I'll be with some someday..."
She kneeled down onto her knees, the mud covering her legs, the grass sticking along with the mud like glue. But this didn't bother her..nothing would now..she was so numb...
"...I'll still love you until every single one of these roses die..."
Kurenai's face then had a faint smile.
"...I'll join you...soon..."
Kurenai stood up, looking down upon Asuma's grave; her crimson eyes had tears in them.
But the rain made it look like an illusion.
The Truth
No matter how many times they've denied it,
No matter how many times they've ignored it,
No matter how many times they've missed their connection,
Everyone knew that shared affection.
Everyone saw how many times Asuma was at her side,
Everyone always knew in arguments they'd take each other's side.
Everyone always knew they were meant to be,
Everyone knew there love was as boundless as the sea.
But fate has decided...
And fate ruined many lives.
And fate was unfair,
Making Kurenai's heart impossible to repair.
And sometimes we wonder...
On what she'll do.
We'll wonder how badly this will change her will to live on,
And if she's taking her baby when she's gone.
If she plans to live until she dies,
Or if she plans to end it now.
And if Asuma will be happy with her choice...
But most importantly if their spirits will ever rejoice.
