It was far too hot and humid to be flirting, Winry thought grumpily as she stared at Al and his friend out the kitchen window and poured herself another iced cocktail (Limoncello, Garfiel had called it? Whatever it was, the sweet liquor was the only thing that could keep Winry from getting really cranky in this humid weather). But she supposed Al got a free pass - he'd only got his body back a few months ago and it had taken some time to build up his strength again. The farmhand girl he was charming seemed very happy, at any rate.

Ed yelled something teasing at him from outside, and Winry rolled her eyes and walked out the door to go sit by him on the porch, in time for Al to give them both a withering look and a rude hand gesture. "Hey, I didn't say anything!" Winry exclaimed, and Ed laughed as she sucked on her drink, scowling over the rim of the glass.

"And you, leave him alone," she sniped, kicking him in the ribs before sitting down beside him. "He's gotta make up for lost time, don't be mean."

"What a load of crap, Win, he's only 15." Ed dismissed, and Winry threw him a filthy look - she could tell she was going to get sick of his company very quickly, they were both too grumpy from the heat. "Anyway, he was already making friend with Mei before he got his body back. She won't be pleased to find out Al's chatting up anyone that crosses his path wearing cut-offs." Winry looked away awkwardly, suddenly making sense of an incident yesterday when she'd heard a whack behind her and turned around to see Al holding his shoulder and storming off muttering, Ed giving him the stare of death as he went. Let's hope this spring fever wears off soon, she thought, but Winry was grumpy and bothered and not in the mood to let Ed win an argument.

"I'm sure Mei's got more to worry about than some nice boy she met overseas," Winry retorted loftily, watching Al play with the girls hair - this was going to get nauseating to watch very soon, Winry didn't much like fake gestures. "Isn't Ling going to become emperor soon over there, anyway? I can only imagine what sort of sexual liberation his reign is going to unleash in Xing, I really doubt Mei would be put out by Al talking to girls." Winry had heard all about Greed's desire for women. Even though the homunculus had already left Ling's body, Ling was asking women to join his posse long before he met Greed, and becoming emperor of such a grand nation as Xing was bound to go to any man's head.

"Excuse me?" Ed asked, interrupting her stream of thought about Ling's psyche. "What would you know about Ling's… endeavors?"

"Hey, you're not taking the high ground with me Ed, I know you went further with him than I did," Winry said bluntly.

Ed made a noise like an angry cat and stomped off, while Winry yelled after him: "For goodness' sake Ed, don't be so self-loathing! That has to be the grandest hook-up anyone from Resembool has managed!" The girl in the shorts gave Winry a doubtful look from across the field. "Is she talking about herself? Who does she think she is?" Al silently cursed the pair of them for interfering with his efforts, but realised he could just make their excuses with the truth. "You can't blame Winry too much, my brother is totally repressed," Al said, flashing her a dazzling toothy smile which made her giggle. "He's got no idea how to deal with girls!"
