A Doll Can't Love

Rico started to feel lefted out. It seemed like everyone was falling in love. Sure, he had his doll, but each day, something nagged him in the back of him mind until one day it clicked; the doll wasn't real.

So, Rico passed back and forth for days, trying to decide if what he and his doll had was love. Was it possible to have love between yourself and an object? He decided to ask Rune about this.

"Rune!" he called out dryly.

Rune's head snapped up and she went over to her friend. "What's up, Rico?"

He pointed to his doll, then pointed to himself. "Love?" he asked.

"Ah...." Rune paused. She didn't want to, but she had to tell him the truth. "I'd say your love is a one way street... but how do you know that you love her? You could just be feeling attachment, like a child and her favorite toy."

Rico glanced at his doll and sighed. He just didn't know what to do.

Each day, Rico would lay on the floor and stare at his doll. Finally, he decided it was best to just get rid of it, but he knew he might need moral support. So, he called Rune again. She was the only one that really understood what was happening. The two friends walked out of the zoo with the doll to bury it.

"Are...are you sure about this Rico?" Rune asked.

Rico nodded as he slowly lowered the doll into the hole. He then turned to his friend and hugged her. It was hard, but it had to be done. He just couldn't look at her anymore.

"C'mon, Rico," Rune said, pulling him away, "Let's go blow something up."

Rico smiled a bit as he followed her. He turned back once, but after that, he never looked back again.
