Comforting a Friend

The news of Shade's passing swept swiftly through the zoo. It had been awhile since Shade and Julien got together. They were going to have a baby... But Shade died from complications of birthing and that had caused Julien to become emo(more or less.).

"Thank god you two are here," Maurice said when he saw Rune and Kowalski, "King Julien is in really bad shape! He might die of broken heart syndrome or something!"

Rune looked at her husband. "Kowalski?"

"The chances of that are very high," he told her worryingly.

Rune sighed. "Let me handle this. This needs the gentle touch of a women," she told the boys. "Yo, Julien!"

Julien slumped to Rune. "Oh.... It is you, Rune... and Kowalski..."

Rune stepped up to the lemur king, drew her hand far back and-

WACK!

"Owch! What in Madagascar's name did you do that for?!" Julien shouted as he put his hands on his stinging red face.

The mix breed lemur grabbed the king's shoulders and shook him. "Stop being so damn depressed, ya moron, or you're going to die," she told him between shakes.

"That's what you can a 'gentle touch of a women'?" Kowalski and Maurice muttered at the same time.

"But my beautiful queen is dead," he mopped, "What do I have to live for when my spirit died along with her?!"

Kowalski gasped and hid in a bush as Alice walked up to the lemurs with something in her arms. "Here ya go," she said to Julien as she handed him the bundle and walked off.

Rune smiled as she walked to Julien's side. "That's what you have to live for," she told him.

Just as Kowalski came out of his hiding place, Julien pulled the blanket down to reveal a baby ring tailed lemur with dark gray fur and large purple eyes. "This...Is this my baby?"

Rune nodded as Kowalski told him; "It seems that your baby survived the complications."

Tears poured down Julien's face. He turned to the penguin. "Smarty penguin, since you are on of the lucky people to have a person like Rune, would you like to help name my child?"

Kowalski smiled. "I'll be honored, Julien." He then pulled out his notebook and scribbled down random names, then choose the one that seemed the most fit. "How about Tyler?"

"Yes! Price Tyler!" Julien shouted happily.

Rune huggled her friend. "Congrats on being a new parent, King Julien!"

Julien gasped. "You call me King Julien!" She had never called him King before.

"Well, you are a King!" she laughed.

"This is true," he gloated.

"Just don't get use to me callin' you that, 'cause that was the first and last time."

Julien's ears layed flat. "Ruuuuneeey!"

"No! I won't ever call you that again, Julien," she refused.

Kowalski couldn't help but laugh at the friend's quarrel.

Julien looked down at Tyler, then looked at the couple. "I am not so sure I am ready to do this alone....without Shade..."

"Don't worry, Julien," Rune said with a smile, "If you need any help, you have me and Kowalski and even Maurice and Mole."

"It's Mort," Kowalski reminded her.

"Really?" Rune asked.

"But he does look like a mole," Julien said.

Kowalski sighed and shook his head. Let's hope Julien treats his son better....
