-Drabble-

He didn't know what made him do it. One minute he was walking home, a good ten or so feet behind her, purposely avoiding staring at her hips as they swayed to and fro. And the next, he had a handful of orange and yellow leaves and had tossed them at the back of her. He stood, wide-eyed and in shock as she slowly turned around. Surely, she was going to kill him.

She stared at him as if he'd just stepped on a kitten. "Did you just...?"

He shrugged, caught like a deer in headlights. He laughed awkwardly. "It was just... I was just... And then I..."

She stepped closer, her heels clickong the pavement. And as he stuttered pointless excuse after another, he suddenly had a handful of leaves thrown in his face. She laughed, staring at him, her brown glittering eyes filled with laughter. She brushed her hands together as if she'd done what was needed and then wiped the smile from her face, trying to look cold once more.

He didn't accept that. He grabbed up some leaves and started throwing them at her once more.

"BOLTON!" she half-shriked, half laughed before grabbing up whatever Autumn leaves were nearby to throw back at him. Back and forth, they tossed the dead foliage until suddenly they had knocked each other back into a pile of leaves that made a loud crinkling noise against their bodies.

Laughter filled the empty street as they laid side by side. As he looked at her from the corner of his eyes, the icy exterior he was used to melted away entirely, and the Sharpay he remembered from childhood stared back at him, smiling and sweet, and just as beautiful as ever.

She stared back at him, her laughter fading but her smile still present. "I should go..." she murmured.

"Stay... Just... Just a minute longer."

He knew as soon as she got up, she'd return to the Ice Princess and for just a minute, he wanted it to be the old Sharpay and Troy, lying around in the leaves like they used to when they were children on the playground. He took her hand and stared at the sky, enjoying days of the past and a moment caught in time.
