"It's just not fair!"
Rubbing his female disheartened friend on the back, "He is a fool," Neji acknowledged to his brunette friend, "If he was imprudent enough to leave behind an outstanding woman like you, then he is not worth lamenting for."
Tenten looked at her formal friend with glassy brown eyes and desolately chuckled.
"You don't have to tell me those things to make me feel better Neji," Tenten noted, "I can handle the truth."
Wiping her damp eyes with a polyester sleeve, "I'm just not good enough to keep a boyfriend."
"No," Neji opposed, "He was not good enough for you."
Tenten rolled her eyes.
"I appreciate the support Neji," Tenten started, "But you know one of the reasons I don't go to girl friends in these situations is because they tell me lies just to make me feel better about myself."
"I do not speak of lies Tenten," Neji stated, "Why do you deny yourself so much?"
"Well what exactly is there to approve of?" Tenten demanded, "I'm not perfect!"
"There some things about you that are," Neji muttered.
To neither his disdain nor delight, Tenten heard his comment.
"There are?" not expecting her reserved friend to compliment her, "Like what?" Tenten asked curiously.
Trying to hide the blush creeping up his cheeks, "W-well…U-umm," Neji stuttered.
Tenten eyes grew wide and her mouth was agape.
Did the great, prominent, and royally characterized Neji Hyuuga just stutter?
"Yeah?" Tenten urged, curious and amused.
"You're good at sports," Neji named from the thoughts coming into his head, "And you socialize well with other people."
Tenten was flattered, but pouted in disappointment.
She was expecting something more than that.
"Oh," she muttered, trying hard not to sound disappointed, "Well anyone can have all that," she commented humbly.
"But no one can have your smile."
Neji's pearly eyes grew big and he whipped his head to the side, hot blood pumping in his cheeks.
Did he just blurt that out loud?
Besides looking away, Tenten followed suit.
"W-what?" she inquired.
Hesitating, "Your smile," Neji muttered quietly.
"What was that?" Tenten asked, inching closer for clearer resonance.
"Your smile," Neji repeated louder.
"What?" Tenten urged.
"YOUR SMILE," Neji stated loudly and blushed when he turned his face around to meet a close distance with hers.
"My smile," Tenten blinked, "My smile?"
Her chocolate brown eyes grew wide again when Neji closed the narrow space between them, locking his lips with hers. Hot blushed rushed to her cheeks before Tenten closed her eyes, returning the affection.
Gently and slowly, Neji pulled away and smiled to see Tenten beaming with a hot red face.
"Your smile," Neji started, "Is the most perfect thing I have ever seen."
Frowning slightly, "But it is also what I see the least," he added.
"So promise me you will smile for me, everyday," he requested while cupping her creamy, slightly-tanned face with his hand.
Staring deep into his silky, pearled eyes, Tenten subconsciously closed her coffee ones before pulling him in for another kiss.
Sweet, serenity-cloaked silence passed between them and they savored each other's taste, feeling at home in every second they do.
After pulling away for breath, Tenten leaned her forehead against Neji's and gave him a smile that he requested and yearned for for so long.
"I promise"
