Torn in two

By QueenLavenderEyes

Abby was being torn into pieces as she watched the two people she loved most in pain.

Clarke was trying to be strong but Abby knew that something was still very wrong. There was a pain in her eyes that hadn't been there before the chip and Abby was scared to find out what A.l.i.e had done to put it there. She also knew that there was something else that Clarke hadn't said yet but as her mother Abby knew enough to know that Clarke wasn't ready to talk about it yet.

And then there was Marcus.

He had put his hands over his face in an attempt to hide his horror but Abby knew that he was reliving every horrible thing that A.l.i.e had made him do. The guilt that Abby felt threatened to overwhelm her as she strove to push it to the back of her mind. Her loved ones needed her and this time Abby would not fail them.

The only question was which one to go to.

As Abby tried to figure out what to do Clarke must have seen the indecision in her eyes because she told her mother to go to him. Their eyes met as Clarke tried to convey her understanding to her mother. Clarke had Bellamy to stay with her as well as the support her mother had shown her earlier so she understood that Marcus needed her mother now.

With a small smile Abby finally moved towards the man she loved. She wasn't sure that Marcus would even want to see her after what had happened but she knew that she at least had to try to reach him.

Moving slowly as she touched his shoulder, Abby couldn't help a few tears from escaping as she saw the pain in Marcus's eyes. All she could do is kneel down in front of him and bring him into a hug, hoping that he wouldn't push her away.

She felt extremely grateful when he pulled her close like he was happy to see her.

Marcus had never felt so much pain as he did coming back from the city of light.

It was strange because the worse of the pain was not coming from wounds on his body but instead from the overwhelming certainty that he had lost something important to him.

When he finally opened his eyes again and saw his own hands around Bellamy Blake's neck he couldn't help the shudder that ran through him. Throwing himself off the boy as the memories coursed through him just made the feeling of loss even stronger. Marcus reached for Bellamy but knew that Bellamy would not want Marcus to help him right now.

So instead Marcus rubbed his face with his hands, trying to figure out what he had lost when he heard a cry of pain from behind him.

Then Marcus remembered.

He remembered Abby in the city of light standing beside him as he gazed at her in happiness. He remember the terrible cry she made as she grabbed her neck in pain. And worst of all he remembered the moment when his precious Abby disappeared right in front of his eyes.

Marcus made a small cry as he covered his face with his hands. Abby. his beloved Abby.

Just gone and there had been nothing he could do to find her. It felt like a piece of him had been lost and he would never get it back.

That's when Marcus felt the hand touch his shoulder. Looking up quickly to yell at the person he was shocked to see Abby standing there with such pain in her eyes.

All Marcus wanted to do was reach for Abby to make sure she was really there but it was like he was paralyzed. All he could do was watch as she knelt in front of him and pulled him into a hug. But as her arms went around him Marcus finally found the strength to move. He pulled her close to him, whispering her name over and over again as he marveled at the miracle that had brought her back to him.

It wasn't until he quieted down that he heard her voice repeating that she loved him.
