"This ends the afternoon announcements, have a wonderful day." The bell rang, hundreds of student left their classes filling the hallway. Chattering resonated throughout the building, and many conversations were mixed within one and another. "See ya Meiko!" Luka, a beautiful pink haired junior said as she said good bye to her upperclassmen friend. Meiko looked up within the crowd of people and waved to her friend.
She stretched her hands into the air; after a challenging day at school she seemed to just want to relax. "Heeey! Mei!" A familiar voice sang behind her, as she turned around she saw Kaito, another classmate of hers. " I was just about to leave without you, don't make me wait next time, jerk!" she said as she lightly punched his arm. "Okay okay! When we pass the convenience store i'll buy you ice cream, with my own change, i promise!"
The two walked along the sidewalk, speaking of events that happened in class. They seemed stuck on each others stories, always giving responses. Their was never any silence, they always had something to say about the topic or even each other. At the intersection they stopped, as they waited for the cars to pass Kaito leaned on the stop sign. "Hey mei, you wanna go to the park today?" She stared at him and fixed her jacket, "Hm? Why today, we never really go anywhere after school. I mean occasionally the convenience store, but sure why not."
"I just wanna do something different, we can hang out for a while." He shrugged. "Besides its the same direction as your house, no trouble!"
The swing creaked as Meiko rocked back and forth, every time she swung forward her feet stopped, stepping on the shredded wood below her. Kaito stood on the swing seat, using his body to move himself. Meiko was a bit confused on why he decided to change the usual, but she didn't mind, it was funner than being stuck at home.
"Senior year is flying by, huh." Kaito said, with a drastic look on his face.
"Yeah, so many things i haven't done. I'm going to do it before this year!" She stared at Kaito with determined eyes, and continued to swing.
Silence filled the air, but soon it went away when Kaito flew off from his seat. He tried to land on his feet, but in attempt fell to the ground. Meiko dashed out of her seat over to him to see how he was, but he just stared at the sky and sighed. "Before we graduate i need to get my first girlfriend."
"You never had a girlfriend?! Please, you are the biggest flirt, practically every girl wants you!" She said as she offered her hand, he clasped it and pulled himself up. He patted down his clothes, riding every inch of dirt off him. "I don't like any of them, I'm just talk, i've never even kissed a girl before!" He kicked a rock, stumbling a little while doing so.
"Well what about you, your very pretty mei. I bet you've had millions of boyfriends." She backed away from him a bit, she was flustered. Her heart skipped a beat and she blushed a slight red.
"Not a lot really, and i never kissed any of them either." She said as she rubbed her sleeves together.
"Well do you wanna be each others firsts?" He asked, he stepped forward and spoke a bit softer than usual. "I-I mean we are best friends and it's not like its someone you would regret kissing right? I mean i hope."
She stepped a little closer and held his sweater, "Okay then, r-ready when you are."
He looked at her and pushed her hair behind her ear, and gulped. Meiko closed her eyes and waited, he clasped his hands around hers. He kissed her, she was so warm and he was so nervous. But the two stayed like this for a while, Kaito embraced her. When they pulled away the two gazed at one another, "I love you." He said, "Please, live out life with me. Senior year and further." He kissed her on the cheek, and he rested his head on her shoulder. She smiled and laughed, " Of course i will, you idiot."
"Wanna practice again?" He whispered.
