Gone Forever
Prologue

Summary: After leaving behind the tragic events of Sunnydale, the gang had moved on and started afresh. And when a new romance seems to be on the horizon, trouble starts to brew again. Will the scooby gang reunite?

They had finally left Sunnydale behind them and started afresh. After moving to a small town that was guaranteed with no Hell mouth in sight, they had refurbished a small house on the outskirts that was big enough to hold the slayers that had nowhere to go. Two months had passed and most people had gone their own ways, including Willow and Kennedy who were moving across America, searching for slayers who were unaware of their own powers. Only 3 slayers remained including Buffy; the others consisted of a small quiet girl named Abby and the drastically opposite Lauren. Xander and Dawn had chosen to remain with Buffy and Giles, while Faith had left to do her own thing and Robin returned to his family in LA.

"Dawn, you're going to be late for school!" Buffy yelled, the smell of burnt bacon wafting under her nose as she cursed Dawn for running late again. After enrolling Dawn at the local high school, Buffy had landed herself a job at a small nursery in the centre of town, and was surprised how natural looking after small children came to her. It only made her more upset when she realised she was nowhere near having children.

"Hey Buff, burnt bacon for breakfast again?" Xander greeted as he scooted into the large kitchen, planting a light kiss on her cheek as he passed. She blushed quietly, thankful that they had seemed to grow closer every day since they had left Sunnydale. They even vowed that they would make more of an effort to become close friends again.

"Afraid so, where are the others this morning?"

"Abby went out with some painter from town last night and hasn't come back –" Buffy's face jolted up from the frying pan, but seeing the grin on Xander's face she calmed down, "Don't worry Buff, no supernatural around here remember? Lauren went out clubbing and probably crashed at her friends, and Giles is upstairs reading." She nodded solemnly, and a small smile crept across her face as she heard Dawn bounding down the stairs, in a rush to get to school.

"You're late, again!" She yelled before Dawn could escape through the front door, and smirked as she entered the room.

"Late night, you know. Oh, I'm going clubbing with some girls from school tonight by the way."

"Just be careful!" Both Buffy and Xander yelled after her, which she ignored as she slammed the door shut behind her. Turning to him, she smiled and served the burnt remainders of his breakfast, apologising under her breath.

"So what's the plan for today?" He asked, daring to take a bite of her experimental cooking. "Fancy going to dinner tonight?" He hid the fact he was asking her on a date behind a glance at his breakfast, hopeful that she would say yes. After all, they had grown closer than ever over the past few weeks, and he hoped that the tension between them was noticeable to her too.

"Sure, I'd love to." She said smiling. "But I have to go to work first, so I'll see you about 6ish?" Grabbing her coat from the chair behind him, she kissed him softly on the lips in the hope that something would finally happen. As she walked out the door, a small smile stretched across her lips and she suddenly couldn't wait for her shift to finish.
