Dean Winchester, didn't have much in life.

At one point he may have had the love of a mother and father like a normal child but then his mother was killed by a demon, sending his once fabulously normal life crashing down around his ears. He lost the comforting love of his father after this also. His father was like a ghost to Dean after his mother died. He was there but no matter what Dean did he was unable to reach out and touch him thus leaving him alone. The only thing left was his younger brother Sam, who he had to look after. Sam became his the moment he was handed over to Dean in the fire. Although this also changed too. Over the years Sam left him over and over again, continuously breaking his heart every time. While he may have always came back . It was only to cause Dean more heart break in the end.

The only one good thing Dean really had going for him was one thing. That was Bobby Singer. The man who cared for him as his own. The man who defied his father when ever possible to try and give Dean a semblance of a normal child hood. He was the one who used to sneak him down to the park to play ball, convince him to take the time out to rest. Bobby singer was the first person he ever thought about or went to in a crisis. Bobby was the father to him, his biological father could never be because he was to consumed in his thoughts of revenge for his late wife.

But now Bobby was dead!

He had no idea how to react, what to think, what to do or how to feel. He was lost and numb. The only thing he felt was the pain, the regret and most of all lost. Pain at loosing the greatest man he had ever known. Regret he had never told Bobby how much he had truly meant to him. Lost because for the first time in his he felt he truly had no one to love and care for him unconditionally. No one to look after him or have his back whenever needed. He had lost his father, and now had no idea what to do next.

So he let himself become numb with pain, let it consume him like revenge consumed his biological father and rage consumed his brother. He had nothing now, not now Bobby was gone. So as he looked down onto the body of the closest thing to a father figure and role model he could only think 'what the hell was he gonna do now?'

Dean had never truly had a lot of things in life but standing next to the bed of the deceased Bobby Singer, he knew he had now lost the only great thing he truly ever had.
