Elrond's Lament
How is this possible?
I loved him and cared
for him as my own son,
and now, he'll marry my daughter
They'll wed and become one.
That mortal man should marry immortal elf...it's just not done!
They know their doom...
I've taught them better.
When Aragorn, son of Arathorn
is dead and is in his tomb,
it is Arwen Undomiel that will wander
it is my daughter who will fade.
When all our kin have gone,
she will wander in the gloom and shade.
She will remember times gone by,
She will remember my words,
yet she still must die.
But I have no choice in this matter.
They won't listen, they're in love.
I suppose that they won't heed my cry.
So with a heavy heart, I wish them well,
There is nothing else I can try.
