Notes: Wow…I really like how this came out. Muchly awesome.

Notes the second: This is loosely based on "Chance" by Savatage (which is an awesome song, by the way).

Notes the third: Introducing….Icarous!Muse! Also known as Sim or Sims. He is responsible for songs, poetry, song fics, and vague, disturbing, and surreal stuff. Everybody say hi!

Disclaimer: Jack, Blink, and Spot are Disney's. The lyrics at the end are Savatage's.

"Who is it? Who's there?!" A hysterical cry greets the sound of Jack's footsteps on the stairs.

"Blink? What's the matter?"

"Jack!"

He stops in the doorway as if there was an invisible wall, brain refusing to believe what his eyes insist he is seeing. A familiar, scrawny form is sprawled across the nearest bunk, shaking sporadically, piercing blue eyes rolled back in his head. His hair is matted, his cap thrown on the floor near Jack's feet. His skin is uncommonly pale, stark against the bright blood spattering his chest.

There is a darkness that presses all around him, as if he is spinning in thick empty space.

Blink is saying something about how he found him in Central Park, but Jack only hears one word.

Spot.

Blink leans down and kisses the comatose boy, not caring if anyone sees, staining his own lips red. Jack turns away slowly, pretending that he didn't just see his hopes and dreams granted and then shattered in an instant.

Then there are lips on his and he tastes blood.

He is kneeling by the bedside now, blocking out Blink's muttered words. He wonders idly if he is praying, or maybe begging his lover not to give up. Or maybe trying to encourage himself.

Suddenly, a crystal blue eye, a mirror of his own, flashes before him- Blink's eye.

Spot jerks and opens his mouth as if to scream, but no sound comes out. Blood spills over his lips and onto his shirt.

A sheet of flame surrounds him, revealing a void of menacing shadows. They creep closer, fire and shadow, devouring him.

Jack wipes at his eyes and swallows hard, trying to act as if nothing is wrong.

"What happened to him?"

"I don't know."

He sees a teardrop fall in slow motion, spreading into a hungry sea. Three elements fighting above him, around him, in him. A searing pain tears through his body and his soul.

A horse cry emerges from his throat, tearing into the hearts of both boys watching him. Jack leans over, hesitant but yearning to touch him

Another pair of eyes appears, this time brown and flashing emotion. A familiar angled face, shadowed by a worn black hat. Black fire lances from those eyes, imprisoning him, burning away at his very core. Slowly, it reaches up to make a dome above him, silent and ominous, reaching out to where he is suspended, immobile, for all of time.

Jack silently counts in his head, waiting for the thin chest to rise again. He knows it's impossible for anyone to hold their breath for that long, but he stays for another minute until he can bear to admit to himself what has happened.

Alone, Blink stares sightlessly at the unmoving form. His lips and fingers are stained with blood, dark as it dries. The hand clutched in his own is cold, colder than any human hand should be.

Slowly, very slowly, the tears begin to fall. Two boys, one at a window, one at a bedside, both too young to be feeling this loss. They have lost a comrade, a friend, a brother. They have lost an idol. They have lost a secret, forbidden love. And in place of that love, there is now an empty void.

He was standing all alone

Trying to find the words to say

When every prayer he every prayed

Was gone
