Weathered Souls. Chapter 1. "Admitting a Love?"
Kagome inhaled the scent of hickory and pine caressing her from the gentle kiss of the wind. Inuyasha has been so passive lately. What can I do? She thought to herself over and over again. Her heart had shattered when she would see him with Kikyo. It hurt her even more to know that he loved Kikyo more than her.

"Inuyasha can be so inconsiderate at times, I swear!" she said aloud. The wind seemed to agree with her because after her opinion, it swayed too and fro to her words and voice. She thought of her mother and brother and, of course, Grandpa. She did miss them but knew she had a duty to find the jewel shards.

"Shikon no Tama," she said to herself. She reached into her shirt and pulled out the necklace with the jewel shards on it, and rolled it in her hands. Another kiss of a breeze came by and she inhaled it this time. The smell of forest and.Inuyasha?

She smiled smugly and closed her eyes and breathed in. Prepared to do her bidding.

"Sit, boy!" she yelled loudly. She listened to the always satisfying thud that came after Inuyasha feel to the soil. She even giggled under her breath and quickly drew an angered look on her face. Just so he knows I'm angry with him. Why? He was practically stalking me that's why!

"What the hell did ya do that for?!" he barked, a vein on his head. He brushed the dirt from his silver hair and mumbled something under his breath. Kagome could have told him to 'Sit' again, but felt one 'Sit' a day was enough. She had her back still turned to him.

"Because you were stalking me!" she said idly. His eyes turned angered and gold. But he scratched his head in an embarrassed manner, knowing she had been aware of his presence was embarrassing enough. The birds above were the lullaby for the silence that endured.

"Inuyasha can I ask you something?" she said softly. Inuyasha looked up from him embarrassed emotions, and looked at her with puzzlement. He gave a fanged smile.

"Sure Kagome," he said rather happily more than irritated. Kagome turned around and sat herself in the grass. She was considering her question to Inuyasha and wondered if it would either anger, or confuse him. She looked up from the grass and smiled at him.

"Well.what do you think of me?" she said slowly. Inuyasha sat down in the grass and looked at Kagome. Is she serious? Or is she kidding? How can I tell her I really care for her? That I lo- He cut off his own thoughts and lifted his gaze to Kagome. She looked at him with such fondness, it made him smile.

"Kagome I." he said kindly. Kagome looked at him with the same sad eyes Kikyo had given him when she asked him the same question. At this point, he wanted to hole her and tell her that she meant the world to him. But his pride caught up with his boldness. Kagome frowned and turned her gaze away from him.

"You don't have to answer Inuyasha," she said sadly. A small tear fell on her hand. Inuyasha smelled the salt in her tears of sapphire, and if his ego was not so big, he would hold her then and there. He would stroke her midnight black hair and tell her he loved her and..

"I understand," she said. She faked a smile that hurt him more than him. How would he tell her? How?
