The Other Leia

My name is Leia.
No, I'm not that Leia.
But my mother once met her. She was an hyperdrive technician - my mother, not the Princess - at the main spaceport there, when she came by in a diplomatic mission - the Princess, not my mother - in the early days of the New Republic. Her ship was stationed in that place for two whole months, during the negotiations. She personally said goodbye to all the workers as she parted.
Not a year after, I was born, the same week the galaxy celebrated Princess Leia Organa and General Han Solo's marriage. My mother named me Leia Alderaania. Can you believe it? I know my grandfather was Alderaanian and that he blew up with the planet, but it's way too much, isn't it?
I have borne that name for more than twenty-five years now. The worst were my school years. Every nickname you can think of, I have endured. I even promised myself to change it as soon as I became a legal adult, but by that time, the Yuuhzang Vong were invading the galaxy. There was neither time nor the opportunity to do that. So I settled for asking people to call me Aldry.
I joined the military and became an hyperdrive technician like my mother.
One day, I met a pilot named Han.
Or at least that was what he claimed to be. I soon discovered he only was a freighter crewman. Oddly enough, he was born only two days after me, that was where his name came from. But he was handsome, and I was lonely.
When I told him I was pregnant, he opened his eyes very wide. That was the last time I saw him. Not that I really care, but maybe I got caught in all that Han&Leia fantasy...
A year ago my babies were born. Yes, I have twins too. Boy and girl, more precisely. My mother was there with me. As I was pushing the second one out, I thought May your life be interesting, Han!
Right after delivering them, I wanted to call my babies Jaina and Jacen, but my mother talked the nurse to delay the paperwork till the drugs wore out of me.
