Chapter 1: I Have an Imaginary Girlfriend
Annabeth
I'm going to surprise Percy today! He will be so excited to see me. I moved to New York a week ago, and this is my first day of school.
"Annabeth! Come on!" My stepmother called.
I rushed outside and into the car.
My stepmother and I have made up (mostly). She dropped me off at Goode High School.
POV Percy
"Yo, Perce!" A voice called. I turned, and there was my friend Sully.
Standing behind him was Josie, Will, and Mike.
Me and my friends started walked down the hallway. An announcement on the speakers was called.
"All teachers and students down to the auditorium." The bored voice said.
We walked down to the auditorium.
"So," Sully said. "What do you think this is about?"
"Pffft. I don't know."
I pulled out my picture of Annabeth, smiling and laughing as she rode away in her car, which was taking her to the airport, so she could fly to San Francisco.
"Heyyyy Percy!" Called an annoying voice.
I sighed and looked up, shoving the picture back in my pocket.
Grace flounced up to me, smiling.
Grace was pretty. Her blonde hair fell to her waist, and she had a light pink streak in her hair. She had icy blue eyes and smooth skin, and just the right amount of makeup.
But she wasn't Annabeth.
She didn't have Annie's crazy curls that flew in every direction when she was running.
She didn't have the brains and Annabeth's love of architecture.
She didn't call me Seaweed Brain to my face and actually mean it, letting me know I was an idiot and she loved me for it.
I didn't call Grace Wise Girl.
And Grace didn't have those big, grew, owl eyes just like her mother's, letting you know that she could do way more than you could.
Dang, I loved that girl.
"Hey Grace." I said, sounding more bored than the voice on the announcements.
"Hiya, Percy!" She giggled.
"What do you want, Grace?"
"Oh, I was just thinking about how cute you are." She said, clearly expecting me to kiss her right there and carry her off like I was Prince Charming or something.
"Sorry, Grace," thought I wasn't really sorry. "I have a girlfriend." Sully and Will smirked.
Grace's giggly smile turned to stone. "How dare you shut me down for your fake girl friend Anniebell!"
"It's Annabeth!" I called after Grace, who was flouncing away.
"Duuude." Will said. "You turned down Grace? The most popular girl in the school?"
"I told you guys, I already have girlfriend."
"Riiiiiight." Will cracked a smile.
"Annabeth." Josie said teasingly.
"She's real!" I said, frustrated.
We all shut up as the auditorium stage was lit, and our principle walked onstage.
"We have a new student today,"
After that I ignored the assembly. I think I even dozed off.
After that, school was cut short because "someone" (aka me) tripped and fell into the fire alarm, causing the whole school to evacuate before I could explain the mistake. So, they sent us home early.
