Another Thomas rewrite, this time it's "Rusty Helps Peter Sam" from Season 4. Enjoy and comment.

Every day on the Island of Sodor, the crisp air is soon replaced by the familiar noise of engines working.

Harold the Helicopter flies up-ahead, making sure everything is safe.

One day, Harold was flying around, when he noticed something.

A diesel was coming 'round the mountain.

Harold flew down lower for a close inspection.

"I'm Harold, who are you?"

"I'm Rusty!" replied the diesel.

"I've never seen you before, What brings you to Sodor?"

"Sir Topham Hatt sent me to help the other engines." said Rusty. "I have no time to chat with a helicopter!"

Harold then flew away.

"Cheeky chopper!" groaned Rusty as the little diesel set off.

"It won't be long now!" exclaimed the driver. "We'll soon be at the top station.

Peter Sam and Sir Handel were glad to see Rusty, even though Sir Handel wouldn't stop grumbling.

The cars didn't like Sir Handel, and wanted to play tricks on him.

Then, Gordon arrived.

"Nobody understands our feelings!" said Gordon. "But, if you were ill, you wouldn't be able to shunt freight cars, could you?"

"A good idea!" replied Sir Handel. "I'll try it,"

He did so next morning.

"I don't feel well!" he groaned.

There wasn't enough time to inspect him, so most of his freight cars were coupled behind Peter Sam's coaches.

Rusty promised to follow with the rest.

Peter Sam didn't mind the extra work.

He left his coaches at the station, and set cheerfully on.

Soon, they reached the quarry where the cars are needed.

Empty cars at the bottom of the slope are hitched to a cable, while loaded ones are hitched up-top.

By their weight, loaded cars run down the slope, pulling the empty ones up.

Peter Sam waited at the bottom for the loaded freight cars

He never bumped cars, unless he had too.

But the loaded cars couldn't see him probably. They thought he was Sir Handel.

Their chance to cause mischief had come.

"Faster, faster!" they cried.

"No, no!" wailed the empty cars. "It's Peter Sam, not Sir Handel!"

But it was no use!

"Hurrah, hurrah!" shouted the empty cars.

Peter Sam shut his eyes, as the cars crashed right in front of him!

Rusty was working nearby, and came to help clear up the mess.

"Bust my buffers!" exclaimed Rusty. "But Peter Sam, we'll get you out!"

Peter Sam felt bad, and was badly damaged. His funnel was cracked, and his boiler was damaged.

"Thank you Rusty!" sighed Peter Sam as he went slowly home.

Later, Sir Handel talked to Peter Sam.

"I'm sorry about your accident!" said Sir Handel. "I always stand well back. Cars don't like me."

"Why didn't you warn me?"

"I didn't think!" gasped Sir Handel.

Then, Sir Topham Hatt arrived, crosser than ever.

"You are in a lot of trouble." said Sir Topham Hatt, "And as a punishment, you'll be doing Peter Sam's work as well as your own. I hope this will teach you not to pretend being ill!"

Sir Handel knew he had made a bad mistake.

When the wreckage was cleared, Rusty set off across the line.

Then, Harold buzzed over.

"It's nice to see you again!" whizzed Harold. "I'm almost done for the evening. Keep up the good work!"

And with that, the little diesel set off home.
