Just One Moment
A/N: I own nothing. Just a small coping piece.
"Why? Why did he leave me?" Minnie was in despair. The love of her life dead. The cancer had spread to the rest of his body from his brain. They tried to operate, but he died the day before. As Minnie walked into the funeral home, she put on a brave face. She said hello to all her friends and took a seat for the viewing. As the viewing went by, she grew sadder and sadder. At the end of the showing, after the rosary, came up to him, kissed his head, and asked the director one simple question, "Can I sleep here to be with him one last time?" The director said yes. She ran home, grabbed some blankets and a pillow and came back. With her laptop, she listened to her and her husband's favorite songs and looked at pictures of the two. She shed a tear and fell asleep.
The next morning, the mouse woke up. She waited for Donald and Daisy to come and help prepare for the funeral. The mouse was overwhelmed with sadness, her two friends there with her. She went to the church talked to the priest, Mickey's favorite one at the Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church. He expressed his condolences, and got ready for the service. Minnie's husband, best friend, and lover was dead. Even Mortimer, who never missed a chance to hit on her, was in sorrow. The entire country of Disneyland was watching the funeral on TV.
The last moments spent with Mickey were moments of sadness. Donald, Horace, Rodger Rabbit, Prince Ferdinand, Goofy, and Max, Mickey's pallbearers, put their garters on Mickey bouquet and comforted Minnie. "I don't want to go," the mouse said in sadness. Donald walked up to the casket, shedding a tear, the duck cried "Why, why so soon? You were so young, you were the best friend I ever had." Goofy come up to the casket, "Gwarsh Mick, I cant believe your gone, you were a great friend and I hope you feel like you did before you got the cancer." The Prince, only being a pallbearer as a formality, as all royalty must, backed away into the hearse. Rodger, walking up to the casket, told him, "Gee Mickey, I can't believe you're gone. Rest in Peace my friend." Max walked up to the casket, and simply told Mickey, "Rest in Peace". Minnie came up to the casket. Minnie kissed the part of the casket where Mickey's lips would be, she said "Mickey, have a good time in heaven, I'll see you soon."
At the reception, Minnie stood up and walked to the front of the castle foyer and spoke. "Today, we honor a mouse. A mouse that pulled our country out of an extremely dark place. With the wars about to tear everything apart, who raised our country out of its ashes? Mickey. Mickey was more than a king. He was a friend, a husband, and the most wonderful mouse who ever lived."
As Minnie waved goodbye to her friends, she had her best friends to sleep over to comfort her. Donald, Daisy, Clarabelle, Horace, and Goofy were sleeping throughout the castle, but Minnie stood on her and Mickey's balcony and looked to the sky. She thought about her husband, and she swore she saw Mickey clothed in white robes and smiling at her, which she did. Mickey would always watch over her until the day she died.
Yes I made Mickey and Minnie Catholic. Ha! But seriously, I needed to do some coping so I wrote this up and it seemed like a great story to post. RRR
