Excelsior

A Big Bang Theory Fanfiction

By LivingOnLaughs

(Quick A/N: This is my first TBBT fanfiction and I was inspired by the news, mainly last Monday's headline of Stan Lee's death. Excelsior)

"Sheldon, have you read the paper yet?" his wife, Amy Farrah Cooper asked with tears in her eyes.

"No, why?" the tall man asked, watching Doctor Who on the television.

"Someone died…come here" she explained, placing her glasses back on her face.

"Who was it?" Sheldon questioned his wife.

"Stan" she began, too distraught to continue, but Sheldon knew whom she was talking about.

"Well from the tone of your voice and the way you're hanging your head down to cry along with how you told me to come see the newspaper, I'm guessing it's important" he told Amy.

Picking up the newspaper, Sheldon nearly fainted from reading the headlines for Tuesday 13, 2018: Stan Lee Dies at 95

"This can't be! I can't believe it! Do the others know? When did this happen?" Sheldon asked his wife, who wrapped her arms around his waist.

"It happened yesterday, I wanted to tell you, but I thought it would be better for you to see the headlines" Amy began, "I thought that if I told you myself, you'd have called it a joke," she told her tall, intelligent husband.

"Amy, I'd never think that Stan Lee would die…how'd he pass?" Sheldon questioned.

"Pneumonia" Mrs. Cooper answered.

"You know, Amy, usually I'd be immune to you coiling your arms around my waist in a hug; but in a time of grieving, I'll allow it" he sighed.

"You know, he died right after Remembrance day, the day we mourn the dead soldiers after the battle of our first World War" Amy stated.

"Then every November 12th shall be Stan Lee day" Sheldon sighed, upset that he lost his comic book idol.

He then remembered when he was comforting Howard when Mrs. Wolowitz died and how everyone was devastated. Now Amy was comforting her husband as he grieved Stan Lee's death.

In the warm embrace of Amy, Sheldon could only say one thing as he remembered when he got to meet the Marvel creator and all the times he idolized him: "Excelsior"
