Note: This doesnt involve Katsa or Po. It is a entirely new set of characters, its kind of like a different version of Fire. However I only read the prologue of Fire, so I havent read it it. BUT I WILL!

Chapter 1: Unexpected

Her moves were graceful and painfully beautiful. Her satin gown flowed over her skin like water, and her brown, almost black hair was pulled into a petite bun behind her head. She put the other dancers to shame as they spun and lept across the stage.

And it's a darn good thing I wasn't up there. I could make a elephant look like the worlds greatest ballerina. The swan that danced before the king was my sister, Eliza. She was graced with art. Drawing, painting, singing, you name it she can do it and extremely well too. Her eyes were a soft a lilac and a chocolate brown. Dove, my other sister, and I were also Graced. Our father, King Teyore of Lienid, was thrilled to have three children that were all Graced. However he was less amused when he found out that he had three female heirs, so he was desperate for a male. Mom, on the other hand, has told him more than once that after three children she couldn't handle a fourth, a castle full of girls was more than enough.

Eliza had finished her performance and now there was someone else coming on. Eliza had stolen his thunder though, and chatter ignited through the crowd. Boredom driving their mouths to talk.

"This is so much fun," I whispered sarcastically to Dove.

"Do you really hate this?" She replied.

"Every minute of it."

"I think if it's kind of fun," she chirped.

"Sure, if you like pins digging into your skull and shoes who's only mission in life is to turn your feet into a field of blisters" I growled. I painted on a smile as a visiting lord drifted toward us. Both the King and Queen had been bringing in lords and princes for Eliza and Dove for marriage opportunities.

"Lady Dove and Lady Quinn," he said, bowing. I forced a grin, well ok it was more like a grimace, but whatever. As he began to speak, I quietly excused myself. It was either leave or die from boredom, and dying wasn't on my agenda for today. As soon as I as free from the crowd I yanked the pins out of my hair. It cascaded down around my shoulders, it was a deep chocolate color and was also slightly curly. It was shade lighter than Eliza's, but way darker than Dove's sheet of blonde hair. I contemplated taking my shoes off, by I was already dead meat if my mother found out that I had let my hair out. I went outside, determined to get fresh air. I was plunged into darkness except for dismal light from a flickering candle that was much more than a stump of gooey wax. Soon I was shivering as the tendril of icy air froze my skin. I slipped inside, wandering absentmindedly through corridors. I froze as I looked around me, my feet had carried me through a network of tunnel that I knew by heart; however I had never been in this one before. Curiosity drove me deeper into the tunnel, and cautiously held a candle in front of me as the tunnel gave away to darkness. I kept walking, until suddenly I was thrown into a large cavern. I felt my throat close as the light of the candle caught the white gleam of bones that lay at my feet.
