chapter one - and so it all began
"Who's there?" the girl called into the empty room. She was an average girl, with her waist-length ebony hair, porcelain skin and petite frame. She could have passed for the perfectly average doll if it weren't for her head-to-toe black ensemble and firearm. She stood, poised in her black Converse sneakers, black skinny jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt that was zipped up all the way. She wore no accessories apart from the black scarf tied behind her head, concealing everything but her startling amber eyes and hair.
She stepped confidently into the room, her gun held in front of her, ready for use if necessary.
"I won't ask again; who's there?" she spoke, her voice echoing in the vast space. She was in one of the warehouses in the more industrial part of New York. It was the type of place that the vermin she hunted preferred to hide when they were staying in a town.
"You're very brave, I'll give you that." Spoke the man hiding in the shadows. He spotted her weapon of choice and chuckled.
"What's so funny?" Alex asked, pointing her gun in the general direction where the man's voice came from.
"Your weapon." He supplied, still smiling in the dark.
"Laugh all you want but, when I put one of these bullets in you then we'll see." She seethed, aiming the gun blindly.
"Oh, I believe I have an unfair advantage, here, let me make it easier for you." The vampire lit a match and, within minutes, candlelight flooded the room. In proper lighting, the room proved to be not a warehouse but rather a ballroom that, back in its day, may have been quite exquisite. Fading gold wallpaper and mirrors decorated the walls while there were two ornate crystal chandeliers suspended above their heads. Neither of the chandeliers was lit but, Alex suspected that they weren't wired for electricity.
With the light, Alex identified her target as appearing no older than eighteen years. He had thick dark hair that looked so lush, any normal, hormone-driven teenage girl would kill to touch it. His eyes were a brilliant shade of green and they seemed to possess the power to search one's soul. But, Alex didn't let his good looks fool her. She knew what type of monster he was and, tonight, she planned to stop him.
"My, my, I believe I haven't been quite courteous... My name is Justin Russo. Born 1652, died 1672." the young man smiled, displaying his gleaming canines.
Alex stood her ground, not bothering to reply. One arm was holding her gun and the other was in her back pocket, gripping a wooden stake.
"You know, you don't have to be so rude. You could at least give me a name to refer to you as when I bleed you dry."
"You can wish, vampire." Alex smirked, her gaze fixed on him.
In a flash, before even a second could have even passed, Justin was behind Alex, unwrapping her scarf enough so that her neck was exposed. "Oh, I can wish, can I?" He placed his cool fingers to her neck and that's when it all started.
A/N: So, this is basically just a re-post of chapter... I've decided that this'll be the first story of mine that's been on an indefinite hiatus that I'll complete. (Sorry if that sentenced confused you... It kinda confused me too :P)
