A/N: It's been a while since I've done BF5, but I miss it. This came to me after I was doing a little rewatching.
Vert walked into the kitchen and, to his surprise, found Agura scrambling to shut the medicine cabinet. When she looked up and realized it was him, her shoulders relaxed.
"Oh. It's just you," she sighed in relief.
"Nice to see you too," he joked, and she smiled wearily.
"Sorry. It's been a long day, I thought you were someone else," she admitted, re-opening the cabinet and taking out the ibuprofen.
"Headache?" He guessed, and she nodded, dry-swallowing two tablets.
"You're allowed to be human, you know," Vert chuckled. He knew she hated taking medicine or even putting on Band-Aids in front of their teammates— for Agura, it was a sign of weakness, something the huntress hated showing.
She shrugged diffidently. "What's the fun in that?" Agura closed the bottle and set it back on the shelf. "What are you up to?"
"Looking for you," he said. She smiled again.
"You're in the right place. But I was just about to lie down, that Zone really got to me today."
"I'll join you." He followed her into her room, where Agura lay down on top of her bed and patted the covers next to her.
"The Zone, or the enemy we were fighting in it?" He picked up the conversation once he was next to her.
"Both," she sighed, rubbing her temples. "It happens in the Gear Zone, too, but this one was even worse. All of that motion, constant dodging… it's just a lot to keep track of. And it's so unnatural… I'm much better in the nature-based Zones."
"Well, obviously," he snorted. She nudged him. "But I get it, I really do. You have to be hyper-alert, all the time," Vert added.
"Exactly," she agreed. "Anyways. How are you holding up?"
"I mean, we did defeat Krytus and Kytren. I'd say that's a pretty good day," he admitted, wrapping an arm around her. Agura shifted, nestling into his side.
"Congratulations, fearless leader," she teased. This time, Vert nudged her. "But seriously, I agree. It's a huge relief. I mean, when Krytus was first released, back on Modulon 5…"
She trailed off; Vert didn't need to hear the end of the sentence to know what she was thinking.
"I'm just… glad it's over as quickly as it started. You know. That everything's going to be okay," she said, finding his hand.
"Yeah," he smiled, squeezing back. But for some reason, Vert couldn't shake the nagging feeling, reminiscent of what he had sensed in the Power Plant Zone, that it wouldn't be.
