The smashing and crashing surrounded a scene that seemed almost frozen in time. The black-haired man laid still and silent, his eyes glazing over with a look of fresh death. Droplets of blood were splayed on and around his body like a hundred or so tiny rubies, slowly forming puddles as more blood bloomed from underneath him.

"No! Sirius, no!" The other man ran to the one bleeding on the ground. He cradled Sirius in his arms as the warmth slowly left his body.

Sirius's lips moved faintly, but no words escaped his lips.

"Sirius, please! You can't die!" The man holding him pleaded.

"Remus… I'm… Sorry…" Sirius whispered weakly. Then he went limp and Remus knew he was gone.

Remus held Sirius close and cried as the very last warmth of life trickled out of the body.

The night breeze, calm among the storm, blew flower petals down through the hole in the collapsed roof. Remus looked mournfully up at the crescent moon amongst the stars until a cloud drifted across it and he felt more alone than ever.

A rose had somehow been caught by the wind and had drifted into the room. Remus took it from the floor and placed it on Sirius's chest, over his wound.

"I'm the one who's sorry, Sirius." Remus gently closed Sirius's staring eyes and stood up, brushing away the rest of the tears that dripped down his face.

Remus knelt at the grave, putting down the flower he had brought. Many other witches and wizards had come to the funeral, but the only flowers on the grave were the ones he had brought.

Remus stood slowly and squeezed his eyes shut, wishing that that this would all go away. When he opened his eyes, it had not gone away, but there was now a girl with long blonde hair and a black veil over her face standing next to him.

Her eyes focused on the flowers Remus had left on the grave.

"Roses." She said in a soft voice, "For love."

Remus stared at this strange girl for a second, then looked back at the headstone.

"You know, if you loved him, it's okay to cry for him." She said, "Toughness doesn't have to come in a pinstriped suit." She gestured a bit jokingly at his ragged pinstriped suit.

Remus continued to stare at the roses on the ground, even as his vision blurred with tears, even as they streamed down his face.

When he turned back to the mysterious girl, she had disappeared.

"Thank you." He whispered to no one and looked at the ground.

To his surprise, there was a flower on the ground.

In the girl's place she had left a single black rose at the foot of the grave.

Meh. Short again. This is due to my inability to write slash and because I killed off one of the characters I was prompted to use. The girl was Luna Lovegood. For Klutz242's How Evil Can I be? Challenge.
