Calling to your Soul
It is the end of the day, the end of classes, and the end of seventh year Potions, but instead of dismissing the class Professor Snape is sitting at his desk, eyes glazed over staring at... well... nothing. The students are shifting silently in their seats, casting glances between the clock and their Professor. They are trying to be patient, but everything is complete. The room is tidy, desks are clean, potions, of various colours, are finished and sitting in front of them waiting to be handed in.
"Professor?" ... "Professor Snape?" he repeats a little louder as he approaches the desk. Harry is getting worried; Snape just hasn't been acting quite like himself since the demise of the Dark Lord a month ago. Stopping in front of the desk, Harry waves his hand in front of Snape's face. "Severus," he says, trying once more to get a reaction, any reaction, anger being better than nothing at all. Severus' eyes rise, meeting Harry's with a questioning expression. "Are you okay, Sir?"
Snape still looking confused nods his head once. "It's the end of class, Sir. May we be dismissed?" Harry asks quietly so the rest of the class cannot hear.
Professor Snape clears his throat, "Class dismissed, hand in your potions on the way out."
The class starts to move, shuffling along and chattering amongst themselves. "I said you could hand in your potions and leave. I did not give you permission to make noise and useless chatter." Immediately the class is silent, not wanting to get stuck in detention on a Friday evening. "Mr. Potter, stay behind."
Harry's shoulders slump, 'here it comes,' he thinks, 'you're not supposed to approach Snape's desk. You're not supposed to disrespect a Professor, by using said Professor's first name for address.' He could almost hear the rant that was coming the moment the door shut behind the last student.
Upon hearing the door shut, and the silence reverberating around the room, Harry sneaks a cautious look at his professor.
"Potter, put up a silencing ward." Harry reacts with a look of surprise on his face. "Do it Potter, I know you know how." Harry while still confused and now slightly worried puts up the silencing ward.
"Good Harry, now come here."
"Yes Sir." Harry appreciates it when Snape calls him by his first name. It had first happened when Harry was taking occlumency training, he had requested the change a number of times before Snape had agreed.
As Harry approaches the desk, Professor Snape struggles to stand. "Harry I need you to assist me through that door and into my office, if you would be so kind."
"Yes Sir, what would you like me to do to help?"
"Come stand beside me so I may use your shoulder to support myself."
Now that Severus was in his office, and situated as comfortable as possible in his chair, he requested one more thing from Harry.
"Is there anything else I can do for you Sir," Harry asks.
"Yes, you can use that fireplace over there and call Albus for me please. Could you request he comes through to my office?"
