As long as were Together

DISCLAIMER: If I owned warriors I wouldn't be writing this

The first few rays of sunlight began to shine through the warriors den. Brackenfur warily got up, out of his moss lined nest and let out a big, morning yawn. He looked over to the other side of the den and the sleek tortoiseshell, white pelt of Sorreltail caught his eye, her steady breathing soothed him.

"Even when she's asleep she's still beautiful"

He went out of the den and slowly walked over to the clan's pitiful fresh-kill pile. He picked up a scrawny rabbit. Just as he was turning away he caught sight of Sorreltail sitting outside the warriors den grooming her glossy pelt, her amber eyes shining in the sun. He bounded over to her with the limp rabbit dangling from his mouth.

"Hi Sorreltail! Do you want to share this rabbit? We have to make the most of every piece of prey, leaf bare has really hit" he mewed enthusiastically

"Hi Brackenfur, sure I'd love to share, your right this has been a bitter leaf bare"

Brackenfur ate his share then nudged the rest over to her.

"Hey do you want to go for a walk? While were at it we could try catching a few tiny morsels, or at least what's left of them" he joked "their all so small"

She let out a mrrow of amusement at his little joke even though it was'nt even funny "Sure that sounds like a great idea" she mewed, she was secretly enjoying the thought of Brackenfur and herself going out for a walk alone.

They darted out of camp and into the cold, bitter forest, tasting the air for any smell of prey.

It was a chilly morning, cold air swirled around the two cats and soon white snow began to fall lightly to the ground.

Brackenfur was comforted by Sorreltail sweet scent and she came closer to him for warmth.

Suddenly Sorreltail dropped into a hunters crouch, she padded slowly through the snow and leaped, she came back with the lifeless body of a rather plump vole.

"Great catch!" mewed Brackenfur

Her eyes gleamed with satisfaction as the older, more experienced warrior praised her, even though she was a warrior not an apprentice.

She scraped snow over her catch so she could come and collect it later and then resumed her position at Brackenfur's warm side.

Her body shivered at the cold and Brackenfur came closer to her.

"Is there any other tom in this clan who is nicer than he is?"

Her amber eyes gazed into his and she asked him a question that took him by surprise.

"Brackenfur?" she asked timidly her gaze still fixated on his eyes, "do you love me?"

"what will be his answer? Did I just make a fool of myself?"

Brackenfur stopped for a few heartbeats as her sweet scent wreathed around him.

"Sorreltail, of coarse I love you" he purred and brushed snow off her tortoiseshell and white pelt.

" can we finally be together?"

"Oh Brackenfur, I love you to!"

She licked his ears and looked lovingly at the golden, brown tabby, as their tails winded together. He pressed his muzzle against hers as they continued walking along the cold, wet snow.

This was the moment they had both been longing to have, when they could finally spend the rest of their lives together, even as the snow blew harder and it became colder they never wanted to leave.

"As long as were together, nothing else matters"
