Not Alone

"Hey, hey, shorty. Don't mess up the hair," Kai chuckled softly to himself as the Destined One moved his staff away from Kai's head. They were on deck, and we're just finishing up part one of training.

"We've still got a few things to work on today, but I'm sure we'll manage."

Lloyd frowned and lowered the staff, a curious look planted on his face. "Like what? I've already learned everything there is to know!"

Shrugging, Kai smirked. "Is that so? How about learning to control your powers?" He snatched the staff out of the younger ones hand. Lloyd opened his mouth to speak, but Kai interrupted him. "But we won't practice that today, because your powers are still too powerful. You need to be careful."

"So what then? Can't we just have a snack or something?"

Kai shook his head. "Just a few more minutes of practice. Then we can head inside." He caught a glimpse of Lloyd's expression. He was looking a bit glum nowadays. What could he do to cheer the kid up? "Fine, we can take a break, just this once..."

Immediately, Lloyd jumped. "Yes!" He shouted and dashed inside.

Kai shook his head one more time and followed the kid inside. He found Lloyd already sitting at the table, a comic book by his side and a bowl of fresh grapes on his other side. "Wow, you really must dislike training."

Lloyd rolled his eyes. "I hate it. I mean, it's fun and all learning new moves, but overall, it's boring and I'd rather just sit and play video games." Lloyd's uplifting smile once more dropped to a blue frown.

"I know it can be boring, Champ, but it's to prepare you for the Final Battle. You'll need to be prepared as ever and be ready to face your father."

Lloyd sighed and popped a grape in his mouth.

"Yeah but... I don't want to fight my dad," he said softly, hoping Kai wouldn't hear.

"Sorry, but it's -"

"Yeah, yeah, it's destiny. Was it destiny that my dad was to be bitten by the Great Devourer? Was it destiny for you to be the Fire Ninja? Was it destiny for me to be the Green Ninja?" Lloyd paused and looked at Kai's eyes.

Kai bit his lower lip. "But Lloyd, you won't be going alone through this. We've all had to face great decisions and moments, which led to us finding our True Potentials. And you are too. I know how it feels, I'm sure everyone else does too."

Lloyd looked down and set the comic book on the table.

Walking up to Lloyd, Kai put his hands on the small shoulders and crouched down. "You're not alone, Lloyd..."

And those four little words put a smile on Lloyd's face.

A/N I feel like the song best for this one shot would be Won't Have to Look to Far from Littlest Pet Shop. I really wanted to add in the lyrics but I couldn't. I wanted to make this a one shot with no songs... But the lyrics I really found comforting were these (... Means skipped parts):

"You started out scared, held it inside... Look to your back see who's there instead, and you'll find that you are not alone... Laugh it all off, start having fun, nothing's so wrong can't be undone... Fall on your face, then you get up and dance, nothing to lose if you're taking a chance... When your friends are right there with you... You can do anything that you set your mind too etc... Encouraging nod, a little advice... You've got what it takes, not just let it shine...COME A LONG WAY, NOTHING TO FEAR..."

So yeah, hoped you enjoyed.

I will mainly be posting one shots from now on.
