A/N: None of the characters are mine, only what they are doing and I haven't made a cent on any of this, just having a grand time.

Lily Hears a Noise

Lily was now three years old. High spirited, learning everything that came her way. Harry was completely correct. Lily was mountains smarter than her "Aunt Hermione". But… she was not a "know- it- all" at all. She had a natural modesty, was good natured, and was respectful. A thoroughly delightful child. When she wanted something, she usually got it. Her fathers were not totally lavish with her, but she understood how to go about fulfilling her wishes. Quite a feat for a little three year old. Severus was sure he was seeing Slytherin features in her. Lily was very talented. She could draw and paint, and was learning the piano. She was also reading. She loved to hang around the lab when Severus was brewing. In general life was very happy around the Snape/Potter home.

One evening Harry and Severus were enjoying some quiet intimate time together. With an inquisitive child about, this was becoming more and more difficult to achieve. Things were getting a little rambunctious with the bed hitting up against the wall, and the sounds of delight that also accompanied the bed. Suddenly Severus stopped cold. "What's that noise? "What noise?" asked a not so happy Harry. "The one coming from Lily's room. There it is again: "Kerr-plunkzzzzahhhhhhh". Let's go see." 'Hey, what's going on here?", inquired Harry. "I heard this noise", and she made the sound. "Kerrplunk zzzzahhhhhhh". "What is that?" asked Lily. Both Harry and Severus were red faced like fire engines! "Ohhh, um.. That was just Severus and I trying out our new dart game." "Can I play." "Oh no, that's um a grown up dart game. You need to go to sleep now Lily." When Severus and Harry got back to their room, they both exclaimed, "This room must be sound proofed. " Then they began laughing until their sides ached. "Grown up darts?" It was all I could think of under the circumstances", said Harry in between bouts of laughter.

Later that week, Lily and Hermione returned to the house after an afternoon of shopping. Everyone was having tea, and Lily had fallen asleep. After she was put in bed for a nap, Hermione lifted her eyebrows the way Severus often did. "Playing grown up darts are we now?"
