The Missing Goodbye of Tauriel and Legolas
"Tauriel!" Legolas started to scream her name when he could not find her. He knew she had fallen, but her body was no longer there.
Eventually, the elf prince found his way to where Kili had been run through, and it was there that he found her.
"Tauriel", Legolas let out her name in a sigh, but Tauriel did not hear. All her mind and all her body was focused on the dwarf in her arms.
"Kili", she whispered.
"Tauriel", Kili was barely able to speak her name, and hardly having the strength to lift his eyelids enough to make out faint features of his love's face.
"Kili… Kili, I…" Tauriel still hesitated to say the words in her heart.
"Tauriel", Kili struggled with his voice, "I will walk in star light."
"Amrâlimê", she finally said the words.
And just as she did, Kili let his eyelids close completely with a smile and then he let out his final breath.
"Tauriel", Legolas stepped toward her and Tauriel's head snapped up as a tear ran down her cheek; and though she knew who had addressed her, she did not turn to look upon him.
"Be gone Legolas, be gone from me", her voice was calm and emotionless.
"Tauriel…"
"No mellon (my friend). This is my last time with him, and from here I go to return his promise to his mother, and then… I shall diminish."
"It does not have to be that way", Legolas tried to approach her again. "You are not alone Tauriel."
"Without him… I choose to be alone."
Legolas heard the truth behind her words, and so he left her there in her grief and her sorrow.
