"Connor," Abby shook his shoulder with no response. " You alright Connor?" Abby stepped out of the car.
"Are you alright?" Danny asked her. Abby mumbled yes and opened the driver side door and leaned in.
"Connor speak to me." She almost pleaded.
"It's coming back." Danny announced Sarah and Abby. Abby put her hand on Connor's neck and tilted his head to get a good look at his injury. "Abby, Abby!" Danny turned her around.
"What?"
"Listen to me, we're never gonna outrun it. You two, you get back to the lodge. It's the only place we might be safe. I'll look after him. I promise. Alright, now go!" Abby and Sarah took of in the direction of the lodge.
Danny felt Connor's neck, in search of a pulse.

"Where's Connor?" Abby questioned the second Danny walked into the door of the lodge.
"I found the anomaly, sent all the birds on through and it closed behind them." Danny ignored her question. "Then I locked the building so even if it reopens, we'll be fine." He avoided looking at Abby the entire time, instead telling Sarah the information.
"Where's Connor?" Abby repeated. Danny took a seat in one of the old wooden chairs and put his head in his hands.
"Danny, where is Connor?" Abby asked again, nervous now. Danny looked up at Sarah then at Abby.
"In the crash, Connor... The airbag hit him directly in the chest. It stopped his heart." Danny whispered.
"Danny, where's Connor?" Abby could hardly stand.
"I couldn't... he died, Abby. I'm so sorry." Sarah gasped at his statement and looked at Abby who looked like someone had just hit her. Sarah led her to another chair and sat her down.
"Danny, we need to give him a funeral." Sarah told him.
"Leave the artifact here and we'll go to the ARC, then the funeral home." Danny agreed. "We'll come back here for it later, when the ARC is ours again." Sarah nodded and picked up the artifact from a table and left the room to hide it.

"She's been silent since I told her." Danny told Lester, who nodded.
"I see. Go arrange a funeral for Temple and I'll call up a therapist for her." Lester replied and walked away, very glad the ARC was in his control again.
Abby was sitting at Connor's terminal, just sitting. She wasn't crying, thinking, wishing, wanting, or anything. Just sitting at his terminal. A picture of the two of them smiled up from a picture taken just before Cutter had a break down and started talking about some woman named Claudia. She reached out and flipped the picture over so she couldn't see Connor.
"Ms. Maitland," A voice started behind her. She spun in the office chair to see a kind looking man with blond hair and blue eyes. "I'm . I hear your boyfriend died." Abby shook her head at this statement. "Husband?"
"Friend," She said softly. "Connor's my best friend."
"Okay, so do you need someone to talk to?"
"No."
"Alright, if you ever do, I live at 81st and 1st and I work just downstairs." Abby stayed silent, just sitting again. "Bye."
Connor's funeral was held two days later, a small thing with Duncan, Danny, Abby, Lester, Jenny, Becker, Sarah, and Connor's mum in attendance. He was buried a very short distance from Steven and Cutter. When everyone had left, Duncan and Connor's mum going home and the rest of them paying respects to Cutter and Steven, Abby sat next to his grave stone.
"I can't believe I kicked you out. I'm sorry Conn." And Abby cried for the first time since he died.
A/N Should I continue this? Please review. You can't believe how awesome it is when I get a text that says I got an email that says someone reviewed. I scream like a kid learning they're going to Disneyland for the first time.
