"They'll all be killed. But you don't care about that, do you?" I spat at Lexa. Her blood covered face twisted with emotion; anger, fear, sadness. (Even though she had promised herself not to fall for someone else after Costia, Clarke made it hard to keep that promise). She took a step towards me, only inches between us now. Her blue grey eyes stared hard at me, but beyond them there was guilt.
"You are right Clarke, I do not care about your people, or their safety, or if the live or die. I only care about the safety of my people, and you Clarke. Without making this deal, I would have put your life in danger, and I will not let you die, especially if I could stop it from happening. I cannot have another love end like it did with Costia. I wish for you to understand why i did what I did and I understand your anger, but it is because you are confused and you feel like you let your people down. You didn't let them down, you never truly promised that you would get them back, but all of us, I failed Clarke not you, but it was to save your life. Clarke I cannot explain how and what I feel for you. It is so much stronger than anything that I have felt, and even if love is weakness, your love gives me strength,"
I was taken aback by her words, surprised and happy, but still upset. Bellamy stepped up behind me and glared at Lexa. "What now?" he asked. I had no words, no plan, nothing. "There is nothing we can do. If we try to rescue our people, we will only be putting everyone in danger, and we have no plan. The Commander made a deal, and breaking that deal can get thousands killed compared to few. I understand that we are losing many people but, we tried Bellamy, and that's all we can do," he moved back, upset over my final decision. Raven, Octavia, my mom all looked disappointed, but it wasn't a new look. I was tired of being looked up to. Sometimes we must make sacrifices, and that is what I did.
"Come on everyone, the war is over for now, we are going to return back to camp," Bellamy announced, leading the remaining Sky People back. I looked to Lexa, after she had also told her people to retreat. "Clarke," she said nothing else, instead she captures my lips in a searing kiss that I am quick to return. It's needy and full of every emotion we both feel. She tangled her hands in my hair and I wrap my arm around her and then rest a hand on cheek. She is the first to pull away, and rests her forehead on mine. "Come with me to Polis, I need you," she murmured into my hair on my neck. "Okay,"I whispered back. Together we walked, hand and hand, to a new beginning, to a better end.
