IMPORTANT: *This is inspired off of a YouTube video I saw. (/watch?v=pxLuyFGYfVA) It was during the 25th Anniversary, when everyone sang Drink With Me, and there were some romantic interactions between the two. (I would suggest watching it before reading this, but you don't have to.) To be more specific, it was during and directly after Grantaire's heart-wrenching soliloquy about how his life was just one more life and whatnot. So my friend and I role-played it when I sent it to her. I was already questioning the idea of a one-shot to that video, but that really sealed the deal! Enjolras is Ramin-esque and Grantaire is Hadley-esque, but imagine Aaron and George if you want. I don't mind.*
Grantaire stood before the others behind the barricade. He raised his glass higher, "To everyman here! Let all of you find your place here at this hovel." He looked at the ground and kicked a rock. "My life is meaningless, so I am just another person to fall upon this barricade. Will your death matter to the others who shall take your place after you, however? Yes, it matters to them. All of you," he extended his arms, "Will keep the revolution alive, mes amis. Our lives are simply one more life, myself especially."
No one seemed to find anything strange with Grantaire's confession, the exception being Enjolras. He stood just outside of the café door, listening to the men speak and sing songs about freedom and women. He rested his forearm on his unloaded musket, the butt sitting on his boot. He watched the man intently, a peculiar expression written on his face the entire time he spoke.
Grantaire began to walk back inside the Café Musain, a bottle in his hand and a heart on his sleeve. Enjolras caught his arm. Grantaire looked at him and roughly tore himself away from Enjolras. Grantaire was breathing heavily as Enjolras stared at him evenly.
"What do you want, Enjolras? I'm trying to enjoy my last night of solitude. Are you going to patronize me?"
"I don't want you to just abandon your friends after a monologue like that. Do you truly believe that your life is worthless?"
"My life is merely something people scoff at; you included! Why jest about something like this now? Go bask in your pre-revolution glow you seemed so fond of earlier this month. Now your masterpiece is being put to action!"
"This is not me we are speaking about, Grantaire. Your life means something, more than anything even, to at least one person at this barricade." Enjolras cleared his throat, realizing he had said too much. "Do not do anything rash."
Grantaire placed a hand on Enjolras' cheek, which ended up moving farther below and he patted his shoulder warmly. "If you're suggesting that I'm going to leave or commit suicide, think again. I would never leave, Enjolras, and I don't have to commit suicide. Coming here was suicide enough!"
Enjolras put a hand on Grantaire's shoulder, "Do not mock our cause!" he said with fake hurt in his tone of voice. He slipped his arm around Grantaire's shoulder, "Let's go inside and get warm."
Grantaire smiled, "Whatever you say, Enjolras."
AN: Ramin and Hadley's movements, our words! Credit goes to her! I did tweak a few things, however.
