Sam stepped out of his cabin. He silently cursed. "Again?" It's been nearly a month since the monsters had attempted to break into camp. But the tiny-brained creatures couldn't get it into their thick skulls; We have the golden fleece, and not to mention, a fully grown dragon guarding said treasure. The chances of them getting through the boundary was possible, but very small. He sighed. He might as well join his brother. Upon arriving to Camp Half-Blood, his blood brother and him got sorted into different cabins...He still couldn't get it through his head that Jack and him were the sons of their mother and two separate gods. Sam, son of Zeus, Jack, son of Hephaestus. He shook the distracting thought out of his mind, grabbing his spear from beside his bed. It was unheard of that a son of Zeus may be using a weapon gifted from Ares to one of his daughters, but being on of the newbies to camp and also one of the best fighters, Clarisse had given her spear to him before she'd gone to Camp Jupiter to study at the college there. She said that Sam could keep it, on one condition. He didn't break it.
Easier said than done. Thankfully, Jack was training in the forge under Leo Valdez's guidance, who had come back with many stories of what happened in the last war. He had decided to stay back at camp, not joining Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Frank, Hazel, and Nico at the Jupiter college. He made his way to the edge of camp, only to see the cyclops on the ground, slowly transforming into a golden dust cloud, blowing away in the wind. The Ares kids were just sheathing their weapons. As they passed him, they said, "A little late to the fight." Sam clenched his fists. They'd been holding a grudge against him since he'd gotten the spear from Clarisse. They'd been expecting to get it themselves, but Clarisse knew better. It would've caused major fights among the Ares children. I'd never thought of Clarisse as able to be smart.
The courtyard had slowly been gathering a crowd as the cabin doors opened up, releasing easily a hundred demigods. I beamed. I didn't know Percy all that well, but I knew he would've been happy to see how many new kids had come this year. Chiron rushed out of the Big House, without a smile on his face. "Everyone to your cabins. Cabin counselors, please join me in the meeting room. We have dire news to discuss."
