"So are you two on a date?" Naruto asked.

Sakura responded by clocking him on the head. "What are you implying?!" She began grinding her knuckles into her teammate's head, scolding him.

Shikamaru merely sighed and looked away. This had nothing to do with it but...he looked down at the envelope containing the list of ingredients Sakura needed from his clan's medical research lab, and tucked it away inside his flak vest. Jamming his hands into his pockets, he stood up from his seat and stared at the two remnants of Team 7.

"Che, troublesome. You're so noisy. She just needs ingredients, that's all." he muttered, turning his head up to look at the sky. There weren't that many clouds today, so staying here any longer suddenly didn't seem very appealing. "I'll go deliver this to my dad. See you later, Sakura."

"Ah, OK." Sakura paused mid-noogie and smiled at him. "See you, Shikamaru." He allowed himself one last glance at the rosette-haired kunoichi talking with the blonde and grit his teeth and left.

'What are you implying?' she had said and went out of her way to clarify she wasn't on a date with him. As he jumped from rooftop to rooftop back to his clan's territory he thought about how deep down he had wished it was.
