So I was listening to the song "Daylight" by Maroon 5 and got inspired.

I hold his body in my arms, staring out my window into the dark of the night. I can't go to sleep. Not now. Not tonight. Tomorrow is my 21st birthday, the day I come of age. The day they're going to come collect me to take my place on the throne. The day I have to go through some arranged marriage with some princess I've never even met, just so our people will get along.
My fingers play with his short hair. I can't believe this is the last time I'm going to get to hold him like this. He shifts, awakened from his sleep, and looks up at me with his big blue eyes. "Go back to sleep," I whisper.
My people wouldn't approve of our relationship. For others, they might, but not for royalty. The prince has to bear an heir after all.
We knew this day was going to come. I told him three years ago when we started dating. I told him that it was going to hurt, but he told me that any time he got to spend with me would be well worth it in the end.
So I cannot go to sleep tonight. I have to spend every last moment I can with him.
When the royal guards come to collect me, I turn to each member of my team to say goodbye, saving him for last. A tear rolls down my cheek. He wipes it away, but he's crying too.
I give him one last kiss and bury my head in his neck. I'm not ready to leave. "I love you, Roy."
"I love you too, Garth. I always will."
