Hello to the people who ignore me,

Look up and you'll spot me,

Riding on a dragon's back,

Rising above you…literally.

Hello and goodbye,

We're going by way too fast,

His wings are beating the air,

He's blowing a fireball.

I've given him back the power of flight,

And he, in turn, has given me the gift of a friend,

That quiet, secret confidence,

Burning inside you like fire when you know someone cares about you.

We are flying above you,

In broad daylight,

But do you notice?

Do you even care?

Do you ever consider,

That the screw-up of a Berk,

Has become the dragon rider?

Not a dragon killer, no.

You might think I'm killing them or hurting them,

But I'm only being gentle,

And showing them,

It's okay to trust me.

Look above you,

Squint high up into the sun,

You just might see, boy and dragon, dragon and boy,

Soaring in the sky.

You might see the dark shape of his wings,

The imposter, his fake tail fin.

You might see a small boy clinging to his back,

You might see them shooting through the clouds.

Look up above you,

And you'll see I'm not a screw-up.

I'm better than that,

And now I know it.

So let me prove it to you.

Let me show you.

Take a deep breath,

And look above you.
