Mors Principum Est (Death is the Beginning)

"Come on, Ron. For me?" Draco said, his
back turned to Ron. His voice was pleading.
It sounded like Draco meant what he said,
but the request was still so unbelievable.

"But, Draco... Suicide? Is it really worth
it?" Ron chose his words carefully.

"Yes, Ron! It is worth it! No one loves us
the way we love each other. No one needs
us the way we need each other. We'll be
together when we die. We'll meet each other
on the other side!"

Ron glanced out the window of the home they
shared. They were in love, yes. But did he
love Draco this much? Yes, Ron's voice
argued, yes!

Ron nodded, his throat dry. "Alright, Draco.
I will."

His decision seemed so right. Draco, his face
streaked with tears, handed Ron a small
bottle. He kissed Ron once, then drank the
contents of his own bottle.

Without giving it a second thought, Ron
downed the potion and shuddered.

He did it. He proved his love.

Draco hit the floor, his pale gray eyes
closing for the last time. As Ron dropped,
his body slumped over his pale and fading
angel, a headling flashed through his
mind, "*Harry Potter's* Best Friend Dead!"

It was always Harry. Harry to the end.
Always Harry...
