Batman no more
Part 2
The zombies of Gotham
People of Gotham walk with eyes peeled, waiting for trouble that no longer comes, staggering along now quiet streets, like stray dogs searching for food. The people of Gotham necks craned upward search the cloudless night sky for a signal long since extinguished. When crime ran the city streets, they wanted it gone wanted it vanquished forever, now that it is gone, there gods have left them, their magic, their dreams snuffed, their live purposeless.
Batman not only quit on the criminals, who now lay in waste no longer having anyone worth fighting with, he quit on the citizens of Gotham, he quit on himself. So now the taxis pick up passengers without the fear of being robbed, street vendors sell their wares without wondering who is going to shake them down, mothers and fathers push baby strollers in peace, no longer listing for the gun shots.
A car back fires yet no one flinches, a baby wails yet no one turns their heads, a window shatters yet they walk through the shards like its wet grass on a summers day. But the people hope in silence for their warriors return, craving like a lion for meat, for chaos to make them whole again, to matter.
So as a joker lays and cackles to himself, as a cat sleeps on a high window sill, as a penguin plays with a broken umbrella, as a riddler finds the meaning of a enigma, as a freeze thaws, and as a Dark night lay in a pool of his own vomit drunk, the citizens of Gotham roam the streets, yet they are no longer citizens, they are now the ZOMBIES OF GOTHAM.
