I do not own How To Train Your Dragon.

Just a drabble that has been bothering me. Well the plot bunny was bothering me.

"Mommy, what are you doing?" asked a young boy with curiosity shining in his bright green eyes.

The woman who had been silently staring up at the sky turned and smile at her only son. "Hello Hiccup." She whispered as she gestured for him to stand next to her "What are you doing up so late?" she asked as she pulled him into a side hug.

The boy, Hiccup, shrugged and leaned against his mommy "I woke up and you weren't there." He whispered, peering up at her. He opened his mouth and repeated his earlier unanswered question "What are you doing?"

She laughed, the laugh the Hiccup loved to hear, and said simply "I'm waiting."

Hiccup cocked his head in confusion "Waiting for what?" he asked as he followed her gaze to look up at the sky.

The cold night air whipped around them before stilling for a moment. Hiccup watched as a smile grew onto his mommy's face, he was still confused, what exactly could his mommy be waiting for? Daddy? But he was on a raid.

Then he heard.

The low grumbling in the darkness.

He snuggled into his mommy, a bit scared. He recognized what the grumbling was, but he didn't know which one it could be.

"Hiccup, can you keep a secret?"

Green met green, one with curiosity and one with excitement. Hiccup slowly nodded his head and looked off to where the grumbling became louder. Slowly a figure came stalking out, its eyes a glittering ocean blue.

"A Nightmare…." Hiccup whispered in part awe and part fear.

He slowly found himself walking forward with him mommy, the dragon never starting the fire around its body.

"Hiccup, just follow my hand…" he heard his mommy whisper. He nodded slowly and held out his hand like she did, both of them slowly inching towards the dragon. The dragon did nothing but sit and stare at them, slowly inching towards the hands as well.

The Monstrous Nightmare's snout touched his hand and he giggled at the warm and wet feeling.

The dragon began purring as it edged even closer to Hiccup and his mom.

"Her name is Firesong…" his mommy whispered, he could just hear the smile in her voice.

He nodded and whispered "Hello Firesong…"

"Hiccup, if you had a friend as a dragon, which one would you want?"

Hiccup thought for a moment, still stroking the snout of the Nightmare.

"A Night Fury…" he finally said as his eyes started drooping. He let out a sigh and leaned against his mommy.

"Remember Hiccup, this has to stay a secret…"

He nodded as his eyes flickered shut. "A secret…" he repeated before finally drifting off into the land of dreams.

So did you like it?

I'm not sure if I did, but I wanted to write something with Hiccup and his mom involving the word 'Secret'

So yes, review please? With an opinion?
