Chapter 1
One day Lorelai is in the diner sitting at the counter sipping her coffee and talking to Luke when a tall good looking guy comes in and sits down next to Lorelai and grabs a menu and looks at it. Lorelai looks over at him again sipping her coffee.
"Hi are you uh new in town?" she wonders since she's never seen him around town before
The good looking guy looks at her "uh yea just moved here from California. Hi I'm Adam." he introduces himself
"Lorelai Gilmore it's nice to meet you and that's Luke he owns and runs the diner and has the best coffee." Introduces herself and Luke
''nice to meet you and that's good to know.'' he says
"so how long have you been in town?" she wonders
"about a week." Adam watches Luke pour him some coffee ''thanks Luke.''
"yea." Luke says just watching him talk to Lorelai getting a little jelous
"so you're from California?" Lorelai confirms
"yea Berkeley." he tells her
"so what brings you to the hollow?'' Lorelai wonders
"just divorced my wife,lost my kids." he says down in the dumps looking upset at her
''oh,oh Adam I'm so sorry.'' she puts her almost on his shoulder but more his upper arm to try and comfort him
Adam just nods sipping his coffee not looking at her.
"well listen if you need a place to stay tonight why don't you come over to the Dragonfly Inn. I own and run it. I will let you stay in a room for free tonight." Lorelai tells him getting out one of her cards from her purse and writes her number down on it and pushes it towards him slowly
Adam takes it "thanks."
"sure anytime." she smiles
''so um you said you have kids?"
''yea 2 Haddie my 15 year old daughter and a boy Max whose 9 and has Asperger's syndrome.'' Adam tells her still upset from finding that out
''oh Adam I'm sorry that must be hard are you okay?"
''yea,just still not happy about when we found out for sure and my wife and I did nothing but fight about everything all the time and I just got so sick of her complaining to me all the time."
Lorelai just listens trying to be supportive.
''what about you do you have any kids?''
''yea 1 a daughter she's 23.''
