Kate ran into the bathroom and threw up. The room was spinning, she felt so sick. He had left her, he had left. Kate couldn't believe it. She had known something was up, but she had tried to ignore it, tried to kid herself everything was perfect. And know he had left her. I need him. The words repeated over and over again inside her head. Kate felt different. She felt like a piece of her heart had been torn from her chest and shredded. She felt like she couldn't, wouldn't open up to anyone ever again. Gone was KatieandMike, she was just Kate McGregor, the teenage runaway.
Kate didn't know how long she had sat there crying, but Jodi and Madii were home from school so it must have been a few hours. "Oh Kate. What happened?" Kate couldn't stop crying and sobbed uncontrollably into Jodi's shoulder. "I love him so much Dee. So much." Jodi held her sister and together the three girls sat, huddled together in the bathroom.
