Prologue

England swore he was going crazy. Most people thought he was hallucinating when he said he saw Flying Mint Bunny and Co., but he really wasn't. Now, though, he heard disembodied voices a lot of the time, and he had the same dream over and over, every night. He always saw a brown-haired girl, running down a dark hall. He saw it from two different perspectives: Behind, like she was running from him, or from the side, like she was running past him. But never from the front. He was sure that if he could see her from the front, everything would be okay again. Except, that never happened. And the worst part was, she was crying. Every night, he was forced to watch as a crying girl ran ever past or away from him. But the weird thing was, she was in a different outfit each time. And just as he was about to wake up, he always saw a single picture: A golden pocket watch with the chain snapped almost at the tip. And every morning, he puzzled over it as he drank his tea. And, so that he could try to find some connection, he wrote a very short entry into a journal about the dream. This is the story of that trying time.
