It happened in a dark and stormy night, when stray dogs were howling, when no children were laughing, and the weather portrayed the sorrow she felt inside.

Silent… if it wasn't for the cacophony of the stray dogs, the sound of thunders, and the tapping of rain unto the streets and rooftops, it would be the perfect word to describe the atmosphere.

The weather and the noise outside seem to blend in perfectly with her emotions. The animal noises signify the voices inside her head, the sound of thunder signifies her wrath, and the falling rain signifies the tears that fall down her face endlessly. Calm, collected, and rational would be the perfect way to describe her if only no one can sense the emotions that are creating a turmoil that slowly eats her away. It would be perfect if no one knew that those external qualities are only a façade she always wears to hide the pains she feels inside.

It hurts to know that she was at fault; that she was the reason for his demise. It hurts to know that after all he's been through he was still the one who planned his death just because of her… because of her not being able to wait for him.

Now, as she lay beside the man she never loved, she thought about him. He was pronounced dead earlier this morning, burnt to a crisp, says a stranger. According to sources he left a short farewell note for the cause of his grief, a note that explained the reason he had left. It was the stranger who told her, someone she never knew, the reason why he cut his life short. And she repeated it to herself… what the stranger said, what the note contains…

Said the deceased loved her, and said he always will. Said she rarely graced her features with that lovely smile of hers. But everytime she did, it was a beauty to behold. Said he couldn't handle the fact that she had wed. That she had found the man she loves and that it wasn't him. Said he wasn't selfish, said he wished her all the best. What he couldn't handle was the ghost inside his chest. Said that even in his casket, it'd be her smile he'd take with him.

But what he never knew is he really took that smile. When they put him in his resting place he brought that smile with him. Now she could not even try and show that lovely beam, for all that's left inside of her was sadness and remorse. So she freed herself from her man's embrace and took a little walk. She climbed up stairs and reached the attic where she mourned to her hearts content. And when there's no more tears left to cry, when even blood would not suffice, she reached for the window and stood outside. It didn't matter that she was on the roof; she stood and washed the pain away. But even so, it wouldn't go she was only dripping wet. And with blurring sight and an unstable mind, she stood there, in the brink, knowing that her life would be in vain without him there, Riza Hawkeye closed her eyes and allowed herself to fall into the ground with thoughts of once again, being with Roy Mustang, even in hell.

And in that Day, June 11th, their hearts and souls were reunited in love, never again to part amidst the flaming lakes of hell.
