He Always Knew
He was the cool boy, the smart boy, the boy everybody loved. He was expected to be better than his brother, but who was he to compete? He was ignore by his father, looked down on because he wasn't good enough.
"Sasuke, you are expected to live up to the name of Uchiha, that means you are to surpass your brother."
That was all he was ever told.
Blah, blah, Itachi this,
blah, blah, Itachi that.
Never anything about Sasuke.
Poor little Sasuke in his own way was heartbroken, he only ever wanted the respect from his father, the man he admired so much. But little did he know, he would never receive it.
School for young Sasuke was boring and tedious, he was tired of girls ogling him. They were all the same, annoying.
But one caught his interest, her pink hair stood out from the rest and her emerald eyes always looked so sad. He wondered why, he always knew though, he knew she was different. It was the way she looked at him, like she could see him for who he was and he found that interesting. He watched her closely, this girl, this Sakura-chan. He soon realized they had more in common than he knew.
"Ha-ha forehead-chan, forehead-chan." The kids taunted, pushing her down on the ground.
"Sasuke will never like you, he doesn't like girls with big foreheads!" They laughed at her.
The poor pink haired girl whose new dress was all dirty began to cry, Sasuke just around the corner watched this scene play out. Once the kids left he turned the corner and cleared his throat at the crying girl and offered his hand.
"Don't listen to them Sakura, I think your plenty cute." He said looking away.
A smile spread across her face and she hugged him.
"Thank you Sasuke-kun!" She sniffed.
Now they were older, and teammates, he watched her grow into a young woman. She was stronger now and he couldn't help staring. But he had a goal, he was an avenger, he had no time for girls. He took the place of those bullies and pushed her away, but she would always persist, it scared him. Until finally it was his time to leave; she tried to stop him, but it was his time to go. His last words to her…
"Thank you."
He always knew it was her, he always knew she was the one that saved him that day, and many times after. The whole time he was in that village she had saved him and all he could do was thank her. But he always knew that one day he would come back, and when he did he would be worthy. He would be able to finally give her more than just thanks for what she did. But until than he would always know that she would be waiting.
