This is just a very short one shot that i always imagine happening in The House of Hades or the book after it.
Annabeth walked into the amphitheater to a familiar scene. It reminded her of three years ago, after Mount St. Helens. The Doors of Death had been closed and the war with Gaia was over. They had won. But it came with a price. Percy had stayed behind to close the doors. He made sure Annabeth got through, but he did not. Annabeth had been a wreck. She was able to keep herself together in order to fight Gaia's forces and win the war. But now…
Some of the Romans decided to come to the ceremony. The Romans and Greeks were finally at peace. Everything had worked out. Well, almost everything. Annabeth walked up to the podium. She was crying. "I don't even know where to begin," she stated. "He was brave, and loyal, and I loved him." She looked at the crowd and saw all the sad faces. The campfire was burning black. She wasn't sure if she could even finish her speech. She picked up the burial shroud and looked at it. It was sea green and embroidered with a trident. She even added the name seaweed brain to it as her own personal touch. She smiled to herself thinking of the memories. She was about to place it on the flame when a voice made her stop in her tracks.
"Is it bad that this is the second time I have attended my own funeral?"
Annabeth looked up and their eyes met. Her grey to his green. She almost died on the spot of relief. Everyone in the crowd started to gasp, wondering how he was here. But she ignored them. She dropped the shroud and ran into his arms.
"How did you escape?" she asked him.
"I'll tell you later. But right now? I want to kiss you."
