Felipe had spoken! He had broken his silence, after all of these years, and saved the life of the man that he loved like a father. It seemed fitting. Hadn't that been what Diego had done, when he pulled the frightened child from the battlefield, where his parents were killed?
Felipe stared into his mentor's sparkling blue eyes; he longed to continue the conversation, but the words refused to come. He was terrified – not of the silence, but of disappointing and failing his friend.
"Give it time." Zorro had said.
As always, there was no disappointment; just acceptance and love.
