With every last breath
The scenery was beautiful. They had just exited the city and all that could be seen ahead was blue sky and green land.
Castle was sitting in the driver's seat lighting tapping on the wheel. Kate was sitting next to him in the passenger seat, with her hand resting gently on his thigh.
"We're nearly there" spoke Castle as he turned to smile at Beckett. She smiled in return before returning her eyes to the luscious green land outside the window.
Kate finally had another weekend off and Castle promised to take her back to the Hamptons for the weekend. But there was one rule. No murder. No matter how intriguing the circumstances may be. They just wanted to enjoy each other's company.
All of a sudden the car swerved off the road. It hit the curb and began to roll several times. It finally came to stop, jerking at it did.
Kate was pressed up against the air bag, struggling to breath. She had a horrible gash across her foerhead and she could move her legs. Rick was draped over the steering wheel with blooding streaming down his face. He slightly cocked his head to see Kate who was doing the same thing. They both reached for each other's hand, seeking comfort.
With their last breath they spoke the following words, "I love you."
