A/N: Another one shot this time it's slightly different from all my other stories… Take a look and see what you think…
Christmas was always a big deal in my family we always got together and had dinner. But him and I had been at odds all year and just before Christmas we had a major blow out… You know the sort of blow out to end all blowouts. I remember walking out the week before Christmas screaming that I would never set foot his house again.
But something changed that… I was sitting at home on the 8th of January watching Smackdown and for a change I was actually listening to the psychobabble of each character. Though I discovered that might not always be a good idea, I know Steph tells them what they've basically got to say but sometimes it really hits hard… That's how I ended up here… That's how my story began…
Kurt Angle's words echoed through my head as I walked into my bedroom pulling my over night bag out from the bottom of the wardrobe as I went past. Without thinking I rummaged through my drawers pulling out clothes left right and centre. I ignored everybody else in the house and headed out to the car.
I thought back on the previous year, seeing the ups and downs and the matches and the injuries. I thought about how much time I had spend in hospitals and ambulances during 2003, slightly wishing I had never returned. But also glad of my return I gained the chance to see old friends and impress the fans even if it tore our family apart.
Kurt's words had put me in sort of a trance I knew what I was doing but it was nearly as though I wasn't doing it… I knew I had gotten in my car and driven for hours but it was like I was the observer. I've heard people talk about outer body experiences and I guess this was what they meant. Even when I stopped at a Motel 6 and went to sleep it was if I was the observer.
The next day was the same I woke up early and drove until I reached my hometown. The hometown I had been avoiding for a month but something kept tugging on my heartstrings… I guess I hadn't been a big enough man to make amens for what had happened… I hadn't been the big enough man to have Christmas with my family.
Before I knew it I snapped back to reality and I was standing in front of the house I had grown up in. I wanted to turn around and run away but I knew I would hate myself if I did. I reach up and rang the doorbell… A few minutes later someone answered the door, once they saw who I was they gave me a hug saying,
"I'm so glad your home" Then she rushed away calling,
"Vince you better come see this" Soon he was walking towards the door. When he saw me tears rushed down his face and he embraced me in a huge hug,
"Sorry I'm late for Christmas" I whispered
"Your not late son… Your just on time"
