" I love you", the petit blonde girl whispered, brushing the fringe out of the way of the amber coloured eyes of her soul mate.
Tears cascaded from her eyes as she for the last time, placed a kiss on the cheek of the amber eyes, and pulled her petit body out of the embrace, which had come to feel like her home. And she ran, leaving a crisp white note in the pocket of her lover.
She didn't want to leave. Things were just too difficult; problems at home, problems at college, problems everywhere, including in her own head. And her dragon had saved. But her soul mates friends and family needed her, and she was her weakness, the chink in her armour. She was her burden.
She needed her dragon to be strong, and save others, and with her around, she was only making her dragon worse.
She sat on the bridge, staring intently at the train tracks bellow. The rain masked her constant stream of tears, and her black shirt made it impossible to see the red stains seeping through from the deep wounds beneath. By now she knew her dragon would have seen the note and known what was going on, but she couldn't force herself over the edge just yet. She took along shaky breath, and slowly pushed herself off the edge on which she had been perched.
Amber eyes frantically searched everywhere as she tried to find the blond hair of her soul mate. Long strides as she raced down every road, becoming panicky in her prolonged worry. The rain was pouring down now, and she ran her hands through her short brown hair, as tears began to flow. A distant conversation echoed in her memory as she raced towards the train station, praying to the heavens that she was not too late.
As she rounded the corner, heart in her throat, she watched as the love of her life, slowly began to push herself off other bridge. She lunged forward, but was too slow, and as she grabbed at the sleeve of her beloved, it ripped and she watched her soul mate fall to the train tracks below.
The fall would not have killed her; she knew that for a fact. The impending train would. Frozen in fear, the dragon knew she had to save her angel. She raced down to the train tracks, and upon seeing the awkward angle of her angel, screamed for help as time was of the essence.
Everything screamed in pain, as the blue-eyed Angel once again opened her eyes, to an unfamiliar place. It all came flooding back to her, her arms, the cuts, the bridge, the fall, her dragon. She heard a strangled sob and turned her head to see her beloved, with her head in her arms, sobbing with inhuman abandon, every so often whispering, "I'm sorry". The Angel reached out and stroked the head of her 'sort of' girlfriend and whispered, " I will always forgive you". Upon hearing the voice of her soul mate, the normally reserved girl, snapped her head up, and stared disbelieving at the girl in front of her.
"I'm so sorry, I can explain, I thought what I was doing was for the best, that I would save you..." The amber eyes dragon placed a finger to the petit girls lips, and then replaced the finger with her own lips.
"I love you, my Krista, please don't leave me, for that will destroy me." the tall girl muttered into the hair of the petit.
"I love you too Ymir, don't let me be a burden, help me save you from me and myself."
And in the arms of each other, the pair knew that although the road ahead was rocky for both of them, as long as they had each other, everything would be all right.
