Man vs. beast?

Danny Quinn is a quandary: he managed to stop Helen Cutter and survive doing that at the same time (the first time he attempted to do that with Abby and Connor backing him up he got tasered instead), but on the other hand he is stuck a couple hundred thousand years back in the past without any ideas as to how to get back home.

By contrast, the black rhinoceros is fully at home in this time and place (Pliocene Africa). Though this particular animal looks modern, and is in fact a member of the species that survived into the modern times, it has never seen a human before, and its sense of smell suggests that it is some sort of an australopithecine instead. The rhinoceros doesn't care: as usual, it is in a bad mood – a trademark of its species – and it also doesn't care about the other animals, unless they're females of its species as well.

The rhinoceros lowers its head and charges…

"…when Sarah and Connor opened or manifested the time anomaly, or whatever that action is called, I practically flung myself out of it," Danny would later tell Abby and Connor. "Seriously, for all of the prehistoric and futuristic animals that had tried to kill us time and again, none of them came close to that multi-ton modern animal that I have encountered in supposedly prehistoric Africa."
