one mroe story i wasnt planning on writing at all.

I found it in my blog few days ago decided to post.

it sucks , I know. chose the title for no particular reason than narutos love for sasuke and the will to never give up on him.

And also because of the song Promise of a Lifetime, by Kutless I think. worth listening to it.

Sorry for typos and such.

Enjoy

I have fallen to my knees
As I sing a lullaby of pain
I'm feeling broken in my melody
As I sing to help the tears go away

If it were ever about choosing between leaving in this moment or not he did not know what he would have chosen. No pre-made thought about this moment could have ever prepared him for what he felt at the time.

The complete utter turmoil that ate up inside of him, chewing like a dog at a bone, were something he had felt only twice before and everytime it refused to leave without war.

He was standing now on the muddied nothingness on Madara's head at the Valley of the End just standing in the cold rain that poured down on him mercilessly.

Lightning and thunder tearing up the skies oh so often. As if the gods were crying out for the loss the world had suffered mere days ago. The loss of any ray of hope left, of any kind word, cheeky grins and loud-mouthness.

He hung his head low, black hair framing those perfect features of the broken boy. Perfect mouth, ghost-pale skin that felt of wet porcelain at touch and black pools in the place of his eyes that had once held so much life and adoration in them, only to be turned into cold and empty ones and finally, now, being left void of anything but sorrow.

Then I remember the pledge you made to me...

Naruto had died. Protecting him, and Sakura as she tried to heal Sasuke's wounds he had recieved after Madara realized he had betrayed him for the sake of his friend.

He had seen it all, herd Sakuras muffled cries as she grieved naruto, but all he could do was stare in shock as the once bouncy blond was still, and his once loud shouts had been silenced forever.

He had killed Madara afterwards thus setting peace upon their lands and the five great nations.

It was raining now, ever since he had died the same storm kept tearing up the once blue skies. it had been 2 weeks now, but the pain he felt was as vivid as it was in the moment Naruto fell in front of him.

he had been wondering why rain was now closing up his story as it had always led him to a change. But if he thought this was a change as well, a life without Naruto, a shocking change.

He had been living away for the past 4 years and that was a fact, but he always felt Naruto close, knowing that he was never alone, that someone somewhere was thinking of him.

I know you're always there
To hear my every prayer inside
I'm clinging to the promise of a lifetime
I hear the words you say
To never walk away from me and leave behind
The promise of a lifetime

There was no one left.

And he dared think for a minute that the rain would finally stop if he'd get his revenge on everyone.

But it had not, not in the slightest.

He lost his potential lover, his best friend.

He could have told Naruto a thousand times, how much he loved him and cared for him, but all thet would have done was to point out just how much love isn't enough.

Not even close.

Putting my understanding aside

And I am comforted

Looking back at me I know that you can see my heart is open to the promise of a lifetime.
